Why can t I scroll on TikTok videos

(Pocket-lint) - Have you ever watched a TikTok video and missed something important that happened in a split second? Or perhaps you just want to forward to the end to see the big reveal? Sure, TikTok videos aren't that long, but having to sit through and re-watch or watch an entire one when you just want to see the bit that matters most can be incredibly tedious. Thankfully, the app has a solution: it lets users rewind or fast-forward videos.

How to rewind or fast-forward a TikTok

TikTok has a feature on its mobile app that allows you to go ahead or back on its videos.

If you want to see if the ability to rewind or fast-forward a TikTok video is available to you, and maybe even use the feature, simply follow these steps:

  1. Open the latest version of the TikTok mobile app.
  2. While playing a TikTok video, look for a white line at the bottom.
    • It might not be available on really brief videos - so look for it on longer videos.
    • You should see the line become slightly thicker as the video progresses.
  3. Attempt to touch the thick white line with your finger.
    • It will highlight, with a dot appearing to indicate how far you are in the video.
  4. Press the dot and scroll it left to rewind or scroll it right to fast-forward.

And that's it! You can now skip around in a TikTok.

For the past several months, the main way I've enjoyed Tik Tok is by scrolling thru Live streams (like channel surfing).

This is how I find interesting accounts to follow. I could scroll endlessly. If a live stream ends, the next one would begin after a few seconds countdown. (Next LIVE starting in 5..4..3..2..1..)

Four days ago, this feature vanished and I can't swipe up&down to scroll between Lives. I can still watch a Live but I cannot scroll to other Lives.

I've restarted my phone, updated my ios, deleted the app, reinstalled, logged-out and back in, made a second account... nothing has restored the ability to channel surf random Lives.

It's driving me mad.

Please help.

EDIT: Today (Day 7 or 8) the LIVE scrolling feature was suddenly available again. It is working normally now.

Replaying your favorite moment in a TikTok video is now easier than ever, thanks to a new TikTok feature. While you previously had to save a TikTok in order to fast-forward through it, some users are now able to rewind and skip forward right from the app. Wondering why you can't fast forward on TikTok? There are a few possibilities.

Users first reported seeing a white fast-forward bar at the bottom of their TikTok videos in early June, but it appears not everyone has access to the feature just yet. Elite Daily reached out to TikTok to see if the fast-forward update is a test feature or rolling out to all users, but the company didn’t have any information to share. If you aren’t seeing a white bar at the bottom of any of your TikTok videos, you might want to check that you have the latest version of the app and update it if you haven’t already.

Once you’ve done this, one way to check if you have the feature is to start tapping on longer TikTok videos to see if a white bar comes up. As of publication, TikTok hasn’t defined how how long a video needs to be to have the fast-forward bar, but Reddit user IDronedIt reported that they were able to fast-forward through videos as short as 34 seconds in length. Considering TikTok videos can be as long as three minutes, this feature is a game-changer for skipping through to the part you actually want to see.

How To Fast-Forward A TikTok

If you do have the feature, it’s pretty easy to use. Tap on the white bar at the bottom of a TikTok video and drag it until you see a time stamp. You should be able to see the time stamp you’re currently at as well as the length of the entire TikTok. Simply drag your finger to fast-forward through the video or rewind as many times as you want.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like this feature is available for shorter videos, so you’re out of luck if you want to replay your favorite moment for these posts. Considering some TikTok users have reported getting the feature over the past few days, keep checking back and keep an eye out to see if it rolls out for you sometime soon.

Why does TikTok stop letting me scroll?

TikTok has rolled out a new feature that will stop its users from infinitely scrolling through the app if they are a certain age. TikTok has announced that it will be rolling out a new feature that is designed to stop young users from infinitely scrolling the app.
