Why is Skip and Shannon not on TV?

Fans have become accustomed to switching on Fox Sports 1 every day and watching Shannon Sharpe and Skip Bayless debate the sports world’s hottest topics. However, this week the duo weren’t on TV. So, where are Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe this week?

In 2016, it was announced three-time Super Bowl champion Shannon Sharpe would be joining Skip Bayless on his new Fox Sports 1 show Undisputed.

The show goes head to head with ESPN’s First Take, featuring Stephen A Smith and Molly Qerim. Undisputed features debates and hot takes on pressing topics around the NFL, NBA, MLB and wider sports world.

The show is hugely popular and has elevated the status of Bayless and Sharpe to new levels.

Sharpe boasts 2.3 million followers on Instagram and another 1.7 million on Twitter. Bayless has more than 3 million on Twitter and 470,000 on Instagram, making them among the most influential and well followed analysts on TV.

Fans can’t believe Undisputed isn’t on today

Having said that, Undisputed has taken a little hiatus this week given the NBA playoffs have concluded. The basketball season is officially over until October, too, as the Golden State Warriors won this year’s championship after beating the Boston Celtics in the NBA Finals.

People on social media were asking where Undisputed was today:

Are skip and Shannon in contract disputes is Fox or something.. every now and then the show doesn’t air with no warning?#Undisputed

Skip reveals when he’ll be back on Undisputed

The NBA season is long and arduous, and that’s just for the analysts. Skip and Shannon are up in the early hours every day of the week to record Undisputed, so it’s only right they have a little break.

This isn’t the first time this offseason the pair have been off Undisputed.

On Sunday, 26 June, Skip Bayless provided an update on where he and Shannon are. He wrote: “Shannon and I are on vacation this week. Look forward to returning with fireworks on July 4. Until then, I will be tweeting.”

In February, right after the NBA All-Star break, the pair also had a mini-break. Skip wrote at the time: “Shannon and I are on vacation. THANK YOU for our record-breaking ratings over the last three months. I live for Undisputed. Trust me, I’m already missing it.”

Skip and Shannon work an awful lot over the NFL and NBA seasons so we can’t begrudge them a little vacation time over the summer.

Skip recently had a war of words with Russell Westbrook

The outspoken Undisputed host recently got into it with Lakers guard Russell Westbrook. On NBA Draft night, Bayless commented on the Lakers taking Max Christie and him fitting in perfectly with “LeBron and Westbrick”.

Westbrick is a nickname coined by Skip for Russell Westbrook in regards to his poor shooting and tendency to ‘brick’ shots.

Russ has been outspoken about the misuse of his name in the past, and clapped at Skip’s remark:

Bayless then challenged Russell Westbrook to join him on his television show or podcast for a face-to-face discussion regarding the nickname:

Hey, Russell Westbrook (@russwest44) … happy to talk face-to-face about the nickname I believe I originated in 2012. JOIN ME ON TV/PODCAST. Let's talk about how you'll make $47 mil next yr after being THE WORST 3-PT SHOOTER IN THE NBA! Most overpaid player ever? PLEASE JOIN ME

Russ has yet to respond but a face-to-face discussion would no doubt be one helluva spectacle. Personally, I wouldn’t want to be in Skip’s shoes!

Do you think Russ should sit down with Skip? Let us know in the comments if you’d like to see it!
