The blooming season for wild cherry flowers range from 2-3 weeks, from late spring to early summer. After blooming, each flower is replaced by a small, round, fleshy drupe that is green at immaturity, but darkens to dark red, and eventually purple-black when ripe. The cherries reach maturity in early fall.
