He attended the high school alongside Chicago's rapper, G Herbo, who was one of the people who inspired him to make drill music. While in high school, he was active in sports and even played baseball for the varsity team. Bennet did not graduate from high school, as he got into trouble with the law and was incarcerated when he was 16 years. As a result, he got his GED in a juvenile detention centre. Nonetheless, he was committed to furthering his education and enrolled at South Suburban College in Holland, Illinois. Trouble would find Bennet again after he was arrested on a first-degree murder charge, in 2014, following the shooting of college student Malcolm Stuckey. While he was later acquitted of the charges, his education was interrupted. As a result, he chose to focus on his music career. CareerBennett had a passion for music from a young age and started playing songs and rapping in his teens with his friends. However, it was not until he got out of prison -after being acquitted of murder – that he got serious with his music. His talent attracted the attention of Chicago rapper Lil Durk, who signed him to his record labels. Soon after being signed, Bennett, who adopted, released the single Crazy Story, which was a breakout hit. In 2019, he released another track, Cousins, featuring Chicago rapper, JusBlow600. As his music career gained traction, he relocated to Atlanta, where he worked on his debut mixtape, Grandson Vol. 1. King Von and Lil Durk collaborated on several tracks on his debut mix tape, and it was a success, reaching No. 75 on the Billboard 200. Soon after the first mix tape, he started working on a second project, Levon James, which he released in 2019. It featured collaborations with rappers NLE Choppa and YNW Melly. After releasing his second mixtape, King started working on his debut studio album, Welcome to O'Block, which was released in October 2020. Unfortunately, it was his last project alive, as he died a few days after its release. Nonetheless, he had worked on several other songs – yet to be released – which were released as part of his second (posthumous) album, What It Means to Be King, released in 2022. Wife and childrenWas King Von married? Did he have any children? At the time of his death, the American rapper was not married. However, he had dated American rapper Asian Doll, Instagram star Queen Kema, and another woman named Mici. King had two known children with two of his exes, a son with Kema and a daughter with Mici. However, a short time after his death, a woman named Deja Denise was rumoured to be expecting the rapper's child, with his sister, Kayla B, seeming to confirm the rumours. Net worth and earningsKing enjoyed a brief music career of about two years only. However, during that time, he made a name for himself as one of the up-and-coming artists, especially in the drill, hip hop, trap, and gangsta rap genres. At the time of his death, he was estimated to be worth around $750,000, all earnings from his music. DeathKing was shot and killed on November 6, 2020. The shooting resulted from an argument between him (and his crew) and rival rapper Quando Rondo's crew outside of nightclub Atlanta. The argument escalated, resulting in Bennett being shot multiple times. He was evacuated to a hospital where he was treated in critical condition but passed on later in the day. The shooting incident resulted in another person dying and six people being wounded. One of the shooting victims, Timothy Leeks, alias Lu Timm (affiliated with rapper Quando Rondo), was arrested and charged with the murder of King. King Von's quick facts
