The PS Plus games for February 2022 have been revealed, and fans of pugilistic violence, rollercoasters and Dungeons & Dragons will be happy with this month’s offerings. All three games will be available from 1st February 2022. Show What are the PS Plus February 2022 games? The three games are as follows: – ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW –
Note that Planet Coaster Console Edition will only be playable on PlayStation 5, and is not a cross-gen addition to PS Plus this time around. Are these games any good?Planet Coast Console Edition is an absolute corker of a management sim. Coming from genre experts Frontier Developments, the game was brilliantly adapted to console in late 2020, bringing plenty of quality of life improvements along the way. In our review, Dom said: “Joy, wonder and engrossing park management come together to spectacular effect in Planet Coaster: Console Edition. Frontier are masters of the park building art, and as we enter a new console generation that’s never been clearer.” Meanwhile, Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep is the recently released standalone version of the Borderlands 2 DLC. It’s the inspiration for the upcoming Tiny Tina’s Wonderland spin-off from the Borderlands franchise. Going all the way back to 2013 when it was just a part of a DLC Season Pass, I apparently said that “the fourth part of the Season Pass absolutely oozes inventive storytelling, and everyone will be able to enjoy it.” And finally, we come to UFC 4, the most recent of EA’s fighting sports series. We said, “UFC 4 is an evolution over UFC 3. A much better and more cohesive online, a better system for advancing your created fighters, a career mode that has a bit more depth, and gameplay that opens up the series to more people, makes UFC 4 the game that UFC 3 should have been.” Can I still download the January 2022 PlayStation Plus Games?Yes you can. The PlayStation Plus games for January are Persona 5 Strikers for PlayStation 4 and DIRT 5 and Deep Rock Galactic on both PS4 and an enhanced PS5 version.
(Persona 5 Strikers playable on PS5 via backward compatibility) Sony Interactive Entertainment has revealed February’s PlayStation Plus games. Available from February 1, they are UFC 4 (PS4), Planet Coaster: Console Edition (PS5), and Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep: A Wonderlands One-shot Adventure (PS4). Subscribers will have until February 28 to claim the three titles. Today’s announcement marks the first time in six months that the PlayStation Plus line-up hasn’t been leaked ahead of its official reveal. January’s PlayStation Plus games are Deep Rock Galactic (PS5/PS4), Dirt 5 (PS5/PS4) and Persona 5 Strikers (PS4). They’re available to claim until February 1. The number of PlayStation Plus subscribers totalled 47.2 million as of September 2021, according to Sony. Details on an Xbox Game Pass competitor service reportedly being planned by PlayStation emerged last month. According to documents seen by Bloomberg, the new subscription service is codenamed ‘Spartacus’ and will combine the current PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now services, phasing out the branding of the latter. It’s expected to launch for PS4 and PS5 this spring and to be structured across three payment tiers. The first tier will reportedly include existing PlayStation Plus benefits, such as online play and free monthly titles. The second will offer a large catalogue of games like Xbox Game Pass (although not first-party titles at launch). The third tier will add extended demos, game streaming and a library of classic PlayStation games. February's PlayStation Plus lineup has yet to be announced. Here are all the leaks, rumors and some ... [+] Credit: SonyThere’s just about a week left in January. February 1st is next Tuesday, which means we should get an announcement for next month’s PlayStation Plus lineup soon. In fact, Sony should reveal the PS Plus free games for February this Wednesday, January 26th, at the following times:
Typically, the PS Plus announcement falls on the last Wednesday of any given month and the games themselves go live the following Tuesday. In this instance, the following Tuesday also happens to be February 1st, so it works out perfectly. So what games should we look forward to on PS4 and PS5 for the freebies in February? So far there are no leaks or credible rumors so all we have are our best guesses. If something leaks between now and Wednesday, I’ll update this post. In the meantime . . . . January’s games were quite good, and PS Plus subscribers are hoping for another strong month in February. After all, as far as game releases go, February is an excellent month absolutely brimming with amazing new games. So what can we expect for the February PS Plus lineup? Here are my guesses/wish-list. PS Plus February Games On PS4Shadow Warrior 2 This seems like a good choice given the imminent release of Shadow Warrior 3 (leaks have it releasing on March 1st). PS Plus is often used as a way to hype an upcoming game in a series, so releasing the second game just before the third might help drive some buzz. The Shadow Warrior games are ludicrous and over-the-top so this would be a fun giveaway. Horizon Zero Dawn Horizon Forbidden West comes out on February 18th and giving away the original a couple weeks before makes a lot of sense. Anyone who missed it can get caught up on the story before the sequel hits shelves. It generates hype even among players who already played the game. Granted, I found the original to be a bit tedious for a game about robo-dinosaurs, but I’m hoping the second is a major step forward, and there’s no doubt this would be a well-received PS Plus title. (Note: Sony gave this game away for free for several days back in 2021 but not as a PS Plus game). Borderlands 3 On March 25th, 2022 Gearbox releases Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, a new fantasy spinoff of the Borderlands series. This makes Borderlands 3 a perfect PS4 title for next month’s PS Plus lineup for the same exact reason as the other two games in this list. It can drive some hype for the upcoming release. And given that it’s been out for over two years, the timing seems more than reasonable. Dying Light Are you sensing a trend in my predictions here? Yes, Dying Light—a parkour zombie game with a really terrific day/night cycle and asymmetrical multiplayer—would make the ideal February PS Plus title because its sequel, Dying Light 2: Stay Human, releases next month. The only problem with this prediction is the proximity. Dying Light 2 comes out on February 4th, which means we’d get the first game just three days earlier. This would have made more sense as a January PS Plus title. Dark Souls 1, 2 or 3 If I’m not mistaken, none of the Souls games has come to PS Plus. Ever. There were rumors at one point of a Dark Souls: Remastered PS Plus release but these were false. Dark Souls III would be a great February title thanks to FromSoftware’s Elden Ring, which comes out on February 25th and is very much a spiritual successor to the Souls series. PS Plus February Game On PS5Nioh 2 This is definitely one I’d love to see come to PS Plus. The original Nioh was added in 2019 and the sequel’s PS5 port came out in February of 2021, so it’s a perfect fit for a February 2022 PlayStation Plus game. The dark, brutally challenging fantasy Samurai series is very much in the same vein as Dark Souls, with a plethora of challenging enemies and bosses to hack and slash your way through in a fantastical feudal Japan setting. Life Is Strange: Remastered Collection The remastered collection of games includes Life Is Strange and Life Is Strange: Before The Storm, bringing the entire episodic time-bending adventure game into one package on both PS4 and PS5. Given that Sony likes to give away games that release on both platforms, this is a pretty perfect fit. It also just so happens to be releasing on February 1st, the same day the PS Plus games go live. Other PredictionsClearly, the above list includes a lot of top-notch games and most of them fall into the action-adventure category. PS Plus usually has a more varied lineup each month. January had a fighting game, a co-op first-person shooter and a racing game. I expect February will have similar spread. Maybe some indie survival game, or a sim. I’ll update this post if and when we get credible leaks or rumors as well as when Sony announces the actual February PlayStation Plus lineup. What do you think we’ll get next month?
