Who is Trevor in After based on One Direction

The latest One Direction fanfiction movie, After We Collided, has released its first trailer.

Featuring not a single member of the original boyband, this sequel to 2019's After actually stars 22-year-old Josephine Langford and Harry Potter's Hero Fiennes Tiffin as the toxic young couple Tessa and Hardin.

Still separated from his love, Hardin must contend with Tessa's latest romancer "F**king Trevor", played by Riverdale favourite Cole Sprouse's twin brother and former Suite Life of Zack and Cody co-star Dylan Sprouse.

"I've had the pleasure of meeting and working with some of the most incredible people, and gained friendships that I know I will treasure for the rest of my life. None of this would be possible without the support you've given along the way. And for that, I will be forever thankful," he added.

"And finally.. to the boys, I love you so much, and I couldn't be prouder of everything we achieved together. Here's to ten."

After We Collided will debut on demand October 2.

Deep breath in. The sequel to the One Direction fanfic movie After — wait, we're not done — released its first trailer featuring Dylan Sprouse as "F---ing Trevor" — still not done yet! — and despite that moniker, he appears to be playing the romantic rival you'll actually want to root for in the steamy YA love triangle. Deep breath out. Hoo boy, that sentence is quite the journey.

After We Collided is the follow-up to the 2019 film starring Josephine Langford and Hero Fiennes Tiffin as the toxic yet enthralling young couple Tessa and Hardin from author Anna Todd's books (which in turn were based on her Harry Styles fan fiction published on Wattpad). By the end of the first film, college student Tessa had ended things with British bad boy Hardin Scott (those initials!), and the sequel picks up with them still separated as Sprouse's "F---ing Trevor" enters the mix to vie for Tessa's heart.

Based on the trailer alone, as Hardin seems to fall back into his destructive ways, Trevor's calm, mature, and kind nature means he might be the perfect guy who is worthy enough to woo Tessa (and fans) away from the all-encompassing love story at the center of the franchise. Sprouse sure has come a long way from his Suite Life origins!

After We Collided, from Cruel Intentions director Roger Kumble, hits theaters and on demand on October 2. Check out the semi-NSFW trailer below:

"It's so cool that being in that band has created so many great things. I will be watching Number 3."

Liam Payne is now the first member of One Direction to comment on the After franchise and it turns out that he's a huge fan.

Ever since the first After movie came out, it's divided the One Direction fandom. The films are based on a series of hit novels by Anna Todd and the first book originated as One Direction fanfiction on Wattpad. Hardin was Harry Styles in Anna's initial creation, Landon was Liam Payne, Zed was Zayn, Logan was Louis Tomlinson and Nate was Niall Horan.

Fans criticised Anna for portraying Harry/Hardin as abusive in the series and many boycotted the films as a result. Until now, none of One Direction had publicly addressed the After books or the films but now Liam has praised them in a new video.

Taking to Instagram Live, Liam revealed that he had gone to the cinema to watch After We Collided with his fiancée Maya Henry without knowing that the film was inspired by One Direction. Liam said: "I was getting into it. It was very raunchy... and then I got out the cinema and realised that the film was based on characters that were all from One Direction which is the funniest thing."

Liam then explained that he watched the first one too and added: "It was an interesting viewing perspective. I liked that my character was the caring half-brother who just wanted the best for everyone. I feel like sometimes I'm more the main guy, Hardin, who was obviously based on Harry Styles but I feel like Landon should get his own spin-off personally."

Liam ended his After commentary by praising Anna Todd. He said: "Congratulations to the girl who wrote those. I know she wrote them while we were in the band together. It's so cool that being in that band has created so many great things. I will be watching Number 3."

After We Collided is out in cinemas in the UK now and will be released in the US later this month following several delays. Two more After movies are currently in production and due to come out in the next few years.

If you haven’t yet heard of the After franchise, then you clearly have not spent enough time on the stan side of the internet. Honestly, I would not advise you to fall down that hole unless you’re fully ready to commit to spending hours each day scrolling through fan fiction and watching YouTube videos. Luckily, Anna Todd’s One Direction fanfic-turned-real-book-series is about to hit the big screen, so you can get a taste of that life without fully immersing yourself in it. (Trust me. You’re not ready.)

Although the first movie doesn’t come out until April 12, After has been a thing since 2013, when Anna wrote a story on a social writing app called Wattpad about a girl named Tessa who falls in love with a punk Harry Styles. After about 80 chapters, the story was becoming wildly popular. In 2014, it had already racked up more than a billion reads. Long story short, After became a five-book series that is now a major motion picture. Here is everything you need to know about the series.

Anna began writing after discovering a phenomenon where 1D fans would create “punk” edits of the band by photoshopping loads of tattoos on them. In the original chapters (which are still available to read fo’ free on Wattpad, BTW), Harry, Liam, Zayn, Louis, and Niall’s real names are used. They’re all punk except for Liam, who is the main character Tessa’s squeaky-clean best friend.

For legal reasons, the names had to be changed when the stories got published, so the main character’s name became Hardin. Tessa, a Washington State University freshman, falls in love with Hardin, and the two end up in a tumultuous relationship.

Some people are not here for it.

While the on-again, off-again relationship between Hardin and Tessa is what drew many readers in, it was a definite turn-off for others. Some critics feel that the series glorifies toxic relationships, and Harry Styles superfans are upset that he was used as the vehicle for Hardin’s bad behavior.

But still, the series is a huge success.

In a 2014 interview with Cosmo, Anna said, “The people that love and support me, there’s so many of them. There would be days when I would forget and be like, ‘Everyone hates me!’ But when I look at the big picture, most of the people—and not just with me, but in any fandom—they say things on Twitter and they don’t personally care.”

There are many similarities to Fifty Shades.

Just like Fifty Shades, After takes place in Seattle, which Anna said was intentional. Both also feature an obsessive relationship between a woman who begins the story as a virgin and a man still haunted by his childhood.

Seriously, it’s really hot.

If you’ve read After, you probably know about the infamous lake scene. If you haven’t...prepare yourself for the goosebumps you’re about to get. Here’s an exclusive li’l clip we grabbed for you.

The cast is supercute.

Josephine Langford (yep, Katherine’s sister!) and Hero Fiennes-Tiffin play Tessa and Hardin. Selma Blair, Pia Mia, and a buuunch of other hotties, like Samuel Larsen and Shane Paul McGhie, are in it too! Yay!

Even if you haven’t been following the drama since the beginning or don’t particularly consider yourself a Directioner, you’ll definitely want to get wrapped up in all of this drama once the movie premieres.
