On this page you will learn the following about Minecraft mods: Show What are Minecraft mods?Mods are player-oriented additions to video games. Even though Minecraft is already a real success in its raw form (vanilla version), the need for further improvements was there from the very beginning. Since then, a whole virtual library of mods has come into existence, adapted to the respective game versions. This is very important, since only mods that are compatible with the respective version can be loaded into Minecraft. Usually, mods are downloaded on well-known platforms (e.g. Minecraft Forum or Curseforge) and then inserted into the game with a so-called modloader. There are several modloaders, but the most famous and popular one is Forge. After that, you can start the mod (with the appropriate version) after adjusting a few settings. Available Minecraft Modpacks at GPORTALModpacks are a compilation of various (usually very popular) mods in one package. It avoids the time-consuming single installations of many Minecraft mods at once and sometimes has a theme-based background. If you mean the issue in the last post (you should really have made a new thread in Support, not posted to a year old thread for a completely different thing in a completely different section), that is caused by using Java 9 or later, which causes issues with many mods since they use a buggy Mojang library (this is one reason why Mojang provides their own runtime, which should be used even if it is "outdated", which means nothing if the program was written for that version of Java. Many people also still try to use obsolete JVM arguments, like CMS incremental mode and PermSize): https://github.com/Mojang/LegacyLauncher/issues/20 https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MC-131315 (this is yet another reason not to use Forge for mods; even Java 8 causes Forge for 1.6.4 to crash but the game itself doesn't, same for my own mods, including manual installation of Optifine (the "launchwrapper" seems to be an API used to load mods at runtime instead of modifying the jar on disk, which Mojang highly disproves of based in their measures to stop it, like redownloading a clean jar unless you block the download (which is actually pretty easy), probably to prevent people from distributing modded jars, as I've seen people do before, instead of only distributing the modded files)
Modified on: Wed, 20 Jul, 2022 at 3:31 PM Modpacks can be installed from two sources:
CurseForge AppNavigate to the Minecraft tab in the app. From here, click "Browse Modpacks". This will lead you to a page that by default is sorted by Featured Modpacks. In the top section you will see the search bar. The modpack you are looking for, provided you have the correct name, should be sorted to the top. Once you find it, simply click install: After the pack completes its download an installation, it will now appear as a new profile under your Minecraft tab: CurseForge WebsiteThe CurseForge website allows you to download a modpack and install it to the app by using the 'Import' feature. This can be done in a few steps:
*Please note that imported modpacks do not maintain a link to the original project, so you won't be notified of updates. Therefore, we recommend using the first option mentioned in this article, which is browsing or searching for modpacks and then installing them from within the CurseForge app. Did you find it helpful?
