Money in minutes. Money sent with Zelle® is designed to deliver payments, typically within minutes. All it takes is for your debit card to be activated—which you can do online or via our mobile app. Once your card is activated, select Send Money, then Send Money with Zelle® to get started. For future scheduled payments, funds will be available on the delivery day you select. Show
What if they’re not enrolled? If you send money through Zelle® with an email or phone number to someone who isn’t enrolled, they'll receive a notification that prompts them to enroll. After they enroll, it may take 1 to 3 business days to receive the money you sent, depending on processing times. (This is a security feature.) Once that payment completes, your recipient will typically receive future payments faster. If the payment is pending for more than 3 days, we recommend confirming that the recipient has activated their Zelle® profile and that you entered his or her email address or U.S. mobile number correctly. If the recipient doesn't respond to the payment notification by enrolling after 14 days, the money will be returned to your account automatically. If you have questions or need help, you can call the Navy Federal Zelle® Support Team toll-free at 1-888-842-6328. In short, not enough credit unions use Zelle. The rise in popularity of Zelle since its launch in 2017 has been nothing short of incredible and the payments app is quickly becoming synonymous with payments among U.S. consumers. This is in large part the result of the fact that it is free, fast and convenient. But while there are now over 1,000 banks that use Zelle, adoption by credit unions has been substantially slower. There are more credit unions in the United States than banks but as of this writing less than 10% of credit unions currently partner with the payment network. In fact, of the 20 largest credit unions in the country, only 8 currently partner with Zelle. Here’s a quick summary: Both BECU and First Tech Credit Union were among the original financial institutions that partnered with Zelle when it was announced in October 2016. In the below you’ll find some helpful information about Zelle and a full listing of the credit unions that use Zelle, organized alphabetically. As of September 2022 there are over 510 credit unions in the United states that are a part of the Zelle Network. The following credit unions joined the Zelle Network over the past 3 months:

How Does Zelle Work? One of the unique aspects about this payment option is the fact that if your bank (or credit union) partners with Zelle, you do not need to sign up and link your bank account to start using Zelle. This is because your bank or credit union is already integrated with the Zelle network. Zelle works by using the Zelle network to facilitate transfers between its partner banks and credit unions which are all interconnected. This is why Zelle transfers can be completed very quickly. How Long Does Zelle Take? For transfers between two people who have accounts with banks or credit unions that partner with Zelle, the transfer can get processed within a few minutes. With other competing applications such as Apple Pay and Venmo, transfers take 1-3 business days and consumers have to pay a fee to have transactions completed as quickly as they are with Zelle. Importantly, charging money for instant transfers is not something that Zelle does. We dived into the details about how Zelle makes money in a separate post. Is there a Zelle App?Yes there is a Zelle app which is available both in the App Store and in the Google Play store. It is worth noting that if your bank or credit union is a partner you do not need to download the Zelle app to send and receive money. However, it is worth noting that the application is highly rated by its users. These are the stats for the Zelle App on both major app stores:
