I was sent to the Lufthansa counter, which didn’t open until 11:30, when I should have gone to the United counter. An hour of my time was wasted, which almost resulted in my missing the one-hour before take-off check-in deadline. The only reason I didn’t miss the deadline was because the flight was late taking off."

The flight was delayed so I had no option but to board the next day since I wouldn't be able to make it to the connecting flight in Frankfurt. They couldn't give me another connecting flight since it was all full. Because I booked my ticket only hours before my flight, they said it might not be possible to fulfil my meal request since there's a 24 hours cut off. However, now I had to cone back to the airport and take the next days flight which gave the airline more than 24 hours from my original meal request. I still did not get the meal I requested, the crew didn't know about it and didn't have any to spare. This was my first time flying Lufthansa, I probably won't try it again."

Pros: "The hospitality crew that was at SFO gave us the location of a lounge to go to which closed at 8 pm. The time they gave the location was at 8.25 pm. She was uninformed and not very highly trained. Lounge was disgusting. Messy, crowded - seemed like a 2nd class waiting room in an Indian railway station. The boarding was very poorly managed by the same lady!"

Pros: "The crew were very friendly and I liked that they always kept us hydrated with drinks. Before I even left on the trip I called the airlines several time with so many questions and the staff that I talked to each time were so friendly and helpful with all the questions that I had."

Cons: "The only thing I didn't like is that the boarding process was different than what I was used to. I usually board by zones and this time it was more of a everyone got up at the same time and everyone rushed to the front of the lines and some people would push me out of the way to get in front. ( even though we all had assigned seating) Second thing was that I had asked for a wheelchair for my mom and I had seen one waiting outside and was about to walk up to it but another person was limping up to it and put her stuff down on it so I didn't know if it was for my mom or her. I didn't have the heart to go up and make her move if the wheelchair was for my mom so we ended up walking the whole way to customs. I felt bad for my mom afterwards because her knees ended up hurting by the time we got to customs. I would suggest holding up signs of individual names for who the wheelchair is for. Other than that everything was great"

Made two phone calls to the airline prior to my scheduled trip to attempt a seat upgrade but they told me I would have to do this at the airport where of course no upgrades were available"

Pros: "I have ordered the salmon fish dinne and the fish was totally overlooked, dry and tough. I could not swallow the fish and ate the tiny bread roll only. The second was breakfast wigh tasteless scrambled egg and mushroom and spinach. Both serving sizes were really small with just one side dish of fruits. I was hungry the whole 10 hours flight."

Thank you to the Flight Attendant who reseated us together but "you know what" to the person that screwed up the seats in the first place. Also the on-line check in process was extremely poor, maybe "bad" is a better word."

Cons: "Lufthansa does not honor frequent flyer statuses of any of their alliance partners in regards to seat upgrades. Being 6'4", the ability to upgrade to economy plus/premium is important on long-haul flights. Everything else about Lufthansa is excellent, but I will not book with Lufthansa for long flights anymore because of this. I'll stick with United from now on."

Cons: "The flight never took off. We had to wait 6 hours in line, and they still couldn't rebook many of us. When I was finally rebooked on a Swiss Air flight, the flight was invalid, Swiss didn't accept it. I was send to various different lines, and they didn't even understand what my problem was. Finally after spending 2 whole days at the San Francisco airport, I could take off with a 30 hour delay. The Swiss Air flight was wonderful."

Also the system was down, so no check-in online = the biggest line at the airport, it took me more than 1 hour to check-in and drop my luggage, all to get there and the ground force lady (the rudest person alive) tell me that I had no seat available, that she was going to put me on the waiting list... WHAT? I bought my ticket already, waiting list? Well, to say that I highly doubt that I'll book with Lufthansa again."

I like basically everything, except the space between rows was very limited. But of course that’s the airline problem, not yours. On the other hand, purchasing tickets through you was no problem however, seats were not assigned at purchase. There were 3 of us traveling, unfortunately we could not be seated together, which was frustrating. Is there a reason why can’t you assign seats when a ticket is purchased?

No leg space. I am 6ft tall, I am am not super tall. There is zero leg space. Borderline dangerous because with turbulence my knees are forced against the metal on the seat in front of mines. Horrible and painful experience. Not comfortable at all. Just one extra inch of space would be a big difference.

We arrived early to our destination which was nice. I didn’t like how I was pushed to a British airlines flight and how they were going to charge me for my bag last minute. It held up the line and wasted time. I should know in advance if I need to pay for a bag.

Plane to hot inside in entrance. Took a while until ac was on. Door stuck upon arrival… delay to reach other transport connection. Ticket payment problem on Finnair behalf

Ice cream, seat comfort economy plus, plane 787, Could be better if we are able to pick seats online.

We were traveling with a baby and they put us in separate seats when we had booked the seats together, we actually paid for 3 seats but due to an emergency the 3rd person couldn’t come. During the booking the American Airlines agents were unprofessional and rude to us. They made our first flight with our new born really stressful. At least the flying attendants during flight made it up and were caring, Proffessional and over the top to make sure we were comfortable. I bad story with a happy ending.

Seat allocation or lack of availability is a mystery. My wife and I had to sit apart from each other, and teenage children elsewhere but I checked in at the first possible opportunity (24 hours to flight) and at this stage 95% of all seats were gone. How is this possible? What can I do differently next to to be able to sit together with my ffamily on a long haul night flight?

Cons: "Boarding began 25 min after the indicated time. Huge crowd of people (big Airbus 330) was standing in the corridor in some kind of disorganized manner. Priority entrance was open, but then another 20-25 min in the closed waiting area, some kind of hoarder. Only then the mixture of all passengers was let through the sleeve to the plane. Why bother about Priority? Plane arrive in NYC 35 min late. Many transit passengers worried about their connecting flights."

Cons: "Endless waiting and lost luggage. Excuse was unpredicted weather conditions. It was snowing in Finland so they had to clear the Ice from the planes.. Snowing in Finland? How uncommon is that during December? I think most of this is poor ground handling In Helsinki."

Pros: "It was on one of their newer planes which meant that we had decent comfort and entertainment!"

Cons: "The seats were staggered between the middle and sides, so my family was eventually split across two rows. I hadn't expected that."

Pros: "The crew is excellent. Very friendly, professional, and helpful. Both on board and at the desk inside the airport. They listen to your needs and respond the best they can. Seats are comfortable enough for Economy. Good selection of movies to watch. The flight was on time and arrived even a little earlier than expected."

Cons: "The food was filling, but not particularly tasty. For those seated toward the back, there was no choice. Although maybe there was no choice to begin with. Normally, on international flights, for the first (bigger) meal at least, you are given two choices, such as meat or vegetarian, beef or chicken. The food itself wasn't great. The salad was below average on both flight, from and to Chicago. So was the desert. Drinks are offered once with each meal in very small glasses. Although there is a bottle of water from the start."

Cons: "Ran out of food options from SFO to HEL. I was sitting towards the end of the plane ... and no more chicken so got stuck with the pork and mashed potatoes options. Need more coffee aboard the flight. ANA cleans the bathroom periodically, and wouldn't be bad to do the same on long flights. The arm rest between seats don't go all the way up, only half way. If the person in front of you is asleep during meal service, the FA (flight attendant) won't lift the seat and it may be a very uncomfortable meal experience. Other airlines will have the FA do it themselves. ...and you need to be careful about staying awake to get food (otherwise you can get forgotten)."

Pros: "nonstop to Helsinki was great...I have done this route over 100 times and this was the first time non-stop. When you have 17-19 hours travel time in your head door to door and then it is 12 - you really appreciate the extra time. THANK YOU!"

Pros: "Having read horror stories online about booking with Kayak's partner Justfly, I was prepared for the worst (last-minute cancellations, partial refunds, all-around crummy service). Actually, my Finnair flight was great - it was operated by BA, so it was a nice new double-decker Airbus plane. It was maybe 3/4ths full, so I nearly had a row to myself - shoutout to the jerk who decided he was entitled to the aisle seat. The flight was smooth and easy and best of all, it cost a fraction of what the BA price for a one-way from SFO to LHR cost."

When I did, there was no call-button. Seats were from the 90's and VERY narrow. I would NEVER pay for First/Business class on Finnair again. It was very poor."

Pros: "I last traveled on British Airways in May of last year (2015) and the food was beyond dreadful. Therefore I was very pleasantly surprised that there has been a huge improvement. They were very generous with the drinks and the food was plentiful and quite a reasonable standard for airline food (they gave two full meals from San Francisco to London, whereas most airlines give one meal and one snack on that route). They actually checked us in on the earlier side, we took off very promptly and got to London early. It was nice to be on time for a change - so often I find airlines run a bit late. Staff were all pleasant and helpful. Pilot's messages were pleasant, friendly and even a bit informative."

Cons: "Web check-in ahead of time was a total disaster. I got an email telling me I could check in 36 hours early and "secure a good seat" but neither of the 2 sets of codes they provided in the email would work because it was all about Finnair but actually the flight was being run by British Airways. I spent about 30 minutes on the 'phone trying to get the appropriate sequence of numbers and letters to enter so as to check in and get a good seat - still nothing worked. This was at 5:45am - I regretted the time spent when I could have gone back to sleep. My daughter later spent a further 90 minutes trying to figure it out, only to be told finally that our only option was to get to the airport early and check n there which was what we did. It was beyond irksome. Please note, if the airline actually flying is different fro the booking airline, the locator number for check n will be DIFFERENT and needs to be provided to the customer to avoid a great deal of hassle and confusion. We gt particularly unlucky because BA computers had a glitch that day but the general point still stands."

Pros: "British Airways has greatly improved their customer service, the flight attendants (usually a bit gruff) were instead very kind and helpful to myself and all the passengers I saw them interact with. It really makes the flight experience better."

Cons: "My backpack zipper got caught in another passenger luggage in the over head holdall. The crew member tried to separate it while the owner of the other bag complained about me like I’d done it rather than it being the bags moving themselves during the flight. The flight attendant ripped my bag zipper in order to separate the bags. The other passengers bag was not damaged. He tried to fix it but dropped the zip and then pretended it was okay putting it back in the holdall. Kind of unhappy that my new back pack was damaged"

I have been in long-range (16 hours) flights that were more comfortable than this. If anything fell on the floor, I couldn't retrieve, I couldn't sleep at all & had contorted joints & a body ache when we landed. To design such tiny seats is truly inhumane."

Cons: "My American partner's passport expires 2 months after our return to the US. Unfortunately, the French issued a year ago the following rule: to enter France, the foreign passport must not expire at least 3 months after the return date. British Airways let us fly to London, explaining this to us, how it would be on us if there were problems further down, and that we would have to get our luggage in London. We chose to fly thinking it would be OK, we had listened to an online person who had had the same problem and the French later told him they would have let him in, also I am myself a dual citizen of France and the US, plus I am autistic, an invisible disability (in my case) that makes it impossible for me to travel alone. I usually do not even say it since not much is understood -by those who do not have it- on how to accommodate it However in London BA did not allow my partner to go on. Due to the fact yesterday was Easter Monday, the American consulate in London was closed. We have spent the night in a nearby motel and now, the next day, I am waiting alone back at the airport with our 2 large suitcases while my partner is at the American consulate. We are poor, do not have phone, currency or charger for England, and I do not do well with stress, so it is difficult. Now we cannot easily reach one another. We hope to be able to fly on a standby basis (that's what BA told us we could hopefully do) later today. Sorry for this long letter, I hope it does not bore whoever reads it (if it is even read :). We got hit with surprise baggage fees because the baggage structure was entirely unclear -- we even looked for how to book bags with Iberia ahead of time. Also, we didn't know that the first flight would be entirely operated by Level. Two flights and neither operated by Iberia. That's fine, but it would have been helpful to know ahead of time.

Many people had masks off for very long periods of time. I noted one woman sleeping for the last 3 hours of the flight with no mask on. Cabin crew walked past several times, served drinks and food and didn’t bother to say anything until land procedures. Also during the meal they flight attendant told us there was one chicken meal left and left it amount is to argue who gets it. Frustrating and unsafe flight.

DO NOT FLY WITH THIS AIRLINE! I wish I would have taken the negative reviews I had read to heart before I had to discover it for myself. To start with, we were charged an extra $100 for our carry-on baggage apparently being overweight. This was not something we were told about prior to flying or we would have packed differently. During our layover in Portugal, we were delayed. Once they started to board, we got on the bus and drove out to the plane. Upon arriving at the plane, there were already two other busses there that had not even offloaded yet since they were apparently still servicing the plane. We had to stand in a crowded bus for about 45 minutes packed in like sardines. So much for social distancing and covid concerns! The plane itself was uncomfortable and the service terrible. I have flown across the Atlantic many many times on other airlines and have always received amazing service. This was not the case with TAP. Other than a small glass of water, we were only served drinks one time. There were no refills or additional service, which for a 9-hour flight is unheard of. I hated every minute of my time with TAP and will never fly with them again even if someone offered me a free ticket.

The only help we were given was the pleasure of paying over $1,500 more to get my wife on the flight. I am in the process of trying to get this refunded, but as of now we have paid twice for my wife to fly, and neither ticket has been refunded. We may have accidentally broken a rule, but the only function that rule seems to have is to make us pay twice for the same seat. As of now, I would never fly this airline again, and I would warn everyone away from it. I will update this post if TAP does the right thing by two honeymooners."
