Hi.

To be able to remove any background from any given object, a mask must be created that precisely covers the object frame by frame. The easiest way for that to happen is to have a solid coloured background that does not occur within the chosen object for isolation. That is commonly called 'green screening' although technically it could be any colour but when dealing with isolating people, green seems easiest to manage.

The least easiest way is to have a program capable of recognizing and isolating a given object through complex artificial intelligence. They are normally separate plugins that will either work as stand alone programs or as a plugin within a video editor. Video editors themselves do not at present have them as a standard feature.

So no. This video editor cannot do that.

Hi,

Particularly, which software?

If you mean Video Pro X, then yes. But, you'll need to create a mask for either the foreground or the background. You can do this by getting either Xara Photo & Graphics Designer or Xara Designer Pro X. You can open Xara from VPX and the video will appear. Create a mask on the part or parts that you want to mask. Export to an avi file and exit Xara. The animated mask will appear on the timeline. Then, follow the normal masking procedure for Chromakey Alpha. Unfortunately, there is a bug and the XAR object will be emptied once you close the project, which is why you should also export to a transparent avi file and use that.

Note that If either the background or foreground moves, then you will have to adjust your mask, possibly frame by frame within Xara.

Thank you guys. I was hoping that there was some thing build into the program. I have After Effect so it was easy to use the Rotobrush. I also managed to use a really good iPhone app which did an excellent job removing my Non-green screen background.
Thank you..

Hi.

Really even for the AI powered rotoscoping available in the Vegas pro products it is still a lot of work.

Adobe have always been the leaders in this field due to years of experience with still images within Photoshop.

Virtually everyone else lags behind in that area. Even video editors that claim to be able to do this including DaVinci Resolve (Full, not free version) and Filmora. I think if you have a top of the line, new generation Nvidia card that their Broadcast program is able to do that reasonable well.

The only Magix product that can do Roto is Vegas+Mocha Pro plugin.  It's an expensive combination.

Vegas could not achieve complicated Roto, but only the basic roto for simple footage using Mask tracking/Planar tracking.

Hi

. . . . is it possible to remove my background without green screen with this software? . . . .

Depending on the background this may be possible in Video Pro X - see this tutorial, although it refers to an earlier version of VPX the principals still apply for the latest versions.

How do I change the background on my Davinci Resolve 17 without green screen?

There are several ways to key out the background of your clip to achieve a transparent background in DaVinci Resolve 17..
Click on the Qualifier icon..
Select the Picker icon..
In the left-hand preview window click on the background color you want to make transparent..

Does Davinci Resolve have a background remover?

In removing background, Davinci Resolve offers two methods: Luma Key and Chroma Key. Luma Key removes black and white backgrounds, while Chroma Key is used to remove colored backgrounds.
