Dragon Age: Origins Dragon Scale or Dragonbone

Massive armor is for tanking. There are at least 4 other tanking sets that you have easy access to that are better.

Arguably true.

Heavy Armor is 100% useless, causes extra fatigue for no reason whatsoever.

Causes more fatigue because it provides more armor. It's a tradeoff.

Medium Armor is the lowest you can get, has the best Fatigue and Stamina for melee dps, particularly berserkers. Therefore, Medium Armor is the only one worth getting, as it's the only set that's actually worth using for any character.

For a pure dps rogue or warrior, yes. But some warriors are built to dps and offtank at the same time, like a dual wield large weapon warrior. Wade's medium armor may make them too fragile to whip out their AoE, and Wade's massive armor may weigh them down too much. Wade's heavy armor is a legitimate choice between pure dps/low fatigue and pure tanking/high armor.

The massive and heavy sets are completely useless due to having multiple other sets available. Heck, even Juggernaut is better for tanking than Massive dragonscale.

Wade's heavy armor is by far the best heavy armor set, beating out #2 Diligence. As for massive armor, I agree that there are many great choices. However I would rate the best three as Wade's, Cailan's, and Warden Commander's Armor. Two of those require DLC, so for second hand buyers or those without an internet connection, Wade's massive armor may be the best choice for their tank.

Juggernaut and Blood Dragon may be more defensive armors than Wade's, but any of those sets will be more than sufficient to protect your tank through the endgame. A player may decide that a small sacrifice to survivability may be worthwhile for the -15% fatigue, +2 stam regen, and +25 stam that comes with Wade's massive armor. Remember, a tank has to take hits AND maintain aggro, and Wade's armor gives the tank enough stamina to use his special moves. Wade's massive is a legitimate choice for many players.

Which is the best armor set to get, based on what other items are available in the game?

For example, massive armor seems relatively plentiful. Does that mean this is a rare opportunity to get light armor?

I always ask Wade for the massive, but what you want will depend on who you intend giving it to, and what you want them to do. Why not cheat and get him to make all types ;-)

Yeah it's much harder to find decent light armour (Although the best light armour you can buy is sold at Wade's too, ironically. The Felon's coat.) But if you dont fancy spending the money on it and you need something for your rogues go with the dragonskin.

Wades dragonbone is great, but as you say, there are other options- Cailans/Warden commanders (If you have the DLC's) Knight Commanders for your templars, Blood dragon etc

Well from the dragon scales you always want to go massive - there is no light armor, only medium, heavy and massive. The real question is whether you want the Superior Drakeskin (light) or Superior Dragonbone (massive). Then you'll just have to settle with the lesser version for the one you don't make superior.

From there it all depends on your needs. There are definitely better armors out there for both light and massive varieties and, especially if you get DLC, there's a good chance you won't find a person in your party you want wearing either. If you yourself play a rogue who wears light armor, chances are you'll find a use for it. If you play someone who wears massive armor, chances are the massive version will find a use.

I played a sword/shield tanking warrior, so I went massive. It quite nicely transferred to Awakening, no less (the chestpiece growing rune slots in the process).

What you pick generally depends on what you want it for. If someone else is tanking, you'd probably want something lighter (how light depends on if you're still in melee or not).

Aye. Dragonskin is an excellent option for an AW, especially one you're just decking out to boost their mana pool, regen and defense.

cailan's might be better, but for those who didnt feel like wasting money on that DLC can settle for Wade's

it's not easy being this awesome and modest

Heavy Dragon Scale with Evons is superior in every way to Massive Dragonbone

  3. Wade Dragonscale: Light, Heavy, or Massive?

Is Dragonbone or dragon scale better?

Dragon Scales are also lighter than dragon bones, making it easier to transport the material for the armor. Dragonscale is a light armor, which can make it better for a stealth-based player character or if they have a higher light armor skill.

Is dragonscale the best armor?

Dragon Scale Armor is a collection of of armor sets which are functionally identical, that have different appearances. It is stronger than Diamond Armor but is the third strongest armor in the mod, after Dragonsteel and Tide Guardian.

What do I do with dragon scales in Dragon Age: Origins?

Dragon Scale can be given to Wade in Wade's Emporium in Denerim Market District as part of the Dragon Scale Armor quest.

Is dragon scale the best light armor?

At Smithing level 100 and with the Dragon Armor perk unlocked, the player will be able to craft a full set using Dragon Scale. With a shield included, the set rates at around 111, making it decent even for heavy armor standards and as such, the ultimate and best light armor set in Skyrim.
