Glasses leave indent on side of head Reddit

If it is not painful, then it's just a bit of compressed flesh- similar to when you take your pants off in the evening and you might see a dent from your waistband around your midsection. It goes away when you leave your pants (glasses) off for a while.

It's necessary to have a bit of tension with the glasses around your ears, to keep them from sliding off. It's up to your optician to make sure they press on a spot that isn't painful as opposed to one that is. It sounds like your optician did a good job.

Hi everyone about a month ago, I bought a new pair of glasses. At the time the optometrist did the usual fitting and adjusting and I thought everything felt fine.

I'm starting to notice though that the temples of my glasses are making and intent on both sides of my head particularly on the sideburns. Is this because the temples are too tight and I need to get them adjusted? Could it be the type of glasses I have the brand on my glasses says flexon.

I wear glasses for almost the entirety of being awake and have always noticed my glasses leave a mark. I often wear a headset over my glasses which probably doesn’t help either. Recently I bought a new pair of glasses that are pretty tight, and I started to feel a bit light headed after wearing them for a few hours. While I’ve gotten them adjusted, there’s a pretty clear imprint that is even visibly noticeable.

Is this a cause for concern? Is this something that will just sort itself over time or should I see someone about it?

I guess it could eventually deform your skull if you wore them often and they're really tight. But you shouldn't have anything to worry about.

I feel like o have little dents from my glasses. But it goes away at night when I'm not wearing them while I sleep.

My dad's cousin is an actress. She has done Broadway shows for decades. She has a little dent in her forehead from where they tape down the microphone. It's not really noticable but it's there. And it hasn't caused her issues.

I've started wearing glasses since I was 18, and I'm 23 now. I've been using the same metallic glasses. And I can't tell for sure whether they've always been this small or if my head grew during that time but they're definitely too small for me now.

I want you to be 110% honest with me, are they permanent or not? I'm definitely getting new softer and wider glasses because these suck, but I just want to know how much I can salvage of this mess I've brought on my face. I also heard that wearing glasses can permanently the shape of one's eyes and face. I want to know if wearing such glasses in such a way at 18 years of age could have ruined my bone shape forever.

Thank you.

It depends. If you were wearing glasses when you were younger (ages 0-10), there there might be some slight indents, but it's like foot-binding - unless there's a forceful binding for an extended period of time, you're not likely to see any deformation of your bone structure.

It works the same way that growing trees do. If you put something in the way of the natural growth that the organism can't overpower, it will grow around it.

Bones are strong, and humans move around a lot.

That being said, if you were wearing glasses for the past ten years, you've likely developed small callouses from where the arms of your glasses might have been rubbing behind your ears. I've been wearing glasses for over ten years, as well, and I have them. The more often you wear your glasses, the harder they will feel, and the deeper your callouses will run.

If you're especially concerned about them, see your doctor.

Stuart Mackenzie: Look at the size of that boy's heed. Tony Giardino: Shhh! Stuart Mackenzie: I'm not kidding, it's like an orange on a toothpick. Tony Giardino: Shhh, you're going to give the boy a complex. Stuart Mackenzie: Well, that's a huge noggin. That's a virtual planetoid. Tony Giardino: Shh! Stuart Mackenzie: Has it's own weather system. Tony Giardino: Sh, sh, shh. Stuart Mackenzie: HEAD! MOVE! Stuart Mackenzie: I'm not kidding, that boy's head is like Sputnik; spherical but quite pointy at parts! Now that was offside, wasn't it? He'll be crying himself to sleep tonight, on his huge pillow.

I'm not the OP but I have a wide head with a fat face but my ears aren't set back like most people with large heads so I'm pretty impossible to fit for glasses. I need really wide frames with short temples and/or temples that literally hook around my ears to keep them in place. The one time that I found glasses that didn't press into the sides of my face, they slid down so much that I couldn't bear to wear them. I had them adjusted 3 times (twice at my optometrist's office and once at Costco optical) and they told me that they can't adjust them anymore without fear of breaking them (they're plastic frame FWIW). So I am stuck wearing glasses that slide (which I hate) or glasses that cause an indent. I choose the indent because at least they stay on my face.

I would literally pay someone if they could find me magical glasses that don't press in on the sides of my head while also staying perfectly on my face because after 20 years of wearing glasses and changing opticians many times, I have yet to find those magical glasses. And at this point, I think I have permanent indents anyway so what is even the point? :(

Should glasses leave indent on side of head?

The purpose of those nose pads is to help your eyewear fit comfortably on your face without the need to push them up constantly. Your glasses also should not be so tight that they are leaving indents on the side of your head. If ignored, those indents can lead to prolonged pain such as headaches.

Are indents from glasses permanent?

Indentations are just an expected “hazard” of wearing eyeglasses; most of the time they are not permanent.

How do I keep my glasses from digging in my head?

These can be fixed by simply adjusting the temples of your glasses. If your glasses are squeezing your head, you need to adjust the temples outwards. Hold your glasses with one hand, and gently pull the temple outwards. Do this for both sides to relieve the tightness around your head.
