How do you evolve Sneasel in Legends: Arceus?

Pokémon Legends: Arceus is the latest adventure in the Pokémon franchise, this time bringing with it a whole new open world, new catching mechanics and more. While the deep mysteries of Hisui, and which Pokémon you’re going to encounter, are left for you to solve, there are a few Pokémon that you might need a bit of help catching.

Pokémon Legends Arceus is full of regional variations of popular Pokémon from the history of the series, and you’ll need to catch them all in order to complete the final quest. One of the new evolutions added to older Pokémon is Sneasler, a new evolution of generation 2’s Sneasel.

How to get Sneasler in Pokémon Legends: Arceus

In order to evolve Hisuian Sneasel into Sneasler, you’ll need a Razor Claw. This item can be be acquired a few different ways. It can be purchased at the Trade Shop in Jubilife Village, but if you’re very lucky, you can find one from catching Sneasels in the wild. It'll also only be compatible during the day, so that's something to bear in mind.

If you want to evolve Sneasel into Weavile, you’ll need the same item, but use it on your standard Sneasel at night instead of during the day.

Sneasel is one of several Pokémon that have a new Hisuian form introduced in Pokémon: Legends Arceus. Since there are two different forms in the game, there are two options for evolving Sneasel. In Pokémon: Legends Arceus, Sneasel can evolve into either Weavile or Sneasler. The process for evolving Sneasel into either form is similar, but players will need to catch the Hisuian and regular forms to complete both evolutionary lines.

There are a few areas where players can find Sneasel's Hisuian form. Sneasel can be found in Coronet Highlands and Alabaster Icelands in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. The subregions where Sneasel can be caught are Celestica Trail, Primeval Grotto, Avalugg's Legacy, and Glacier Terrace. Any Sneasel found in these locations can be evolved into Sneasler using a Razor Claw.

The Razor Claw in Pokémon Legends: Arceus can be obtained by catching or fighting multiple Sneasel until finding one that's holding the item. Otherwise, the Razor Claw can be purchased from the Trading Post in Jubilife Village for 1,400 Merit Points. Players can earn Merit Points through the Lost and Found system. Returning Lost Satchels will award up to 100 Merit Points each, and players will need to visit multiple regions to earn enough points for a Razor Claw.

After finding or purchasing a Razor Claw, players can use it on their Sneasel to evolve it into Sneasler. For those that want Weavile instead, the process is a little different. The original Sneasel form can only be found in a Space-Time Distortion in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. These areas can spawn in any region but they occur randomly. Players will get an indication on their screen when a Space-Time Distortion is forming, then they can open their map to locate it.

Inside the Space-Time Distortion, random Pokémon will spawn, so players may need to search a few of these areas to find a Sneasel. Once players catch the original form of Sneasel, they can evolve it into Weavile with the same method used for Sneasler. A Razor Claw is needed to evolve Sneasel into Weavile, and it can be found from a Sneasel or purchased at the Trading Post.

Players looking to evolve both forms of Sneasel can keep finding and catching the Hisuian version until they have two Razor Claws. Although catching the Pokémon is the easiest way to find Razor Claws, players can also save Merit Points in Pokémon Legends: Arceus for one or both of the evolution items they need for Weavile and Sneasler. Sneasel is one of several Pokémon that have multiple evolutions and forms in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
