Sights & Landmarks

Tours of a landmark 1726 plantation house with 18th-century furnishings, plus gardens & a farm.

Slide 1 of 4

Dating from 1726, this plantation on the James River was the birthplace and home of Benjamin Harrison V, a signatory of the Declaration of Independence, and of his son William Henry Harrison, the 9th US president. It was also the site of the first official Thanksgiving (in 1619) and the first place where bourbon whiskey was distilled (1620). Lively guided tours of its brick Georgian-style house offer plenty of anecdotes.

My wife and I spent part of the afternoon here earlier today. Absolutely worth the visit! Definitely recommend you stop by for a couple of hours, walk around the grounds, and go on the house tour!

Had a great time. The woman in the gift shop was friendly and very knowledgeable. The tour guide was great very friendly knowledgeable. I highly recommend you see this if in the area.

We did a paranormal ghost hunt so a lot of what we saw was in the dark but the history here is amazing! Shane was so full of information and my husband loved picking his brain. The grounds were beautiful and we now need to go back and see the whole place in the daytime.

Showed up and was just going to look around the grounds, when we ran into Melissa. She invited us to take the tour that she was just getting ready to start. The tour was amazing. Her knowledge of the building and grounds was astonishing. She was receptive and willing and answered all questions. The ghost story is a must to ask about. A really great way to spend the afternoon.

Beautiful and remarkable home. The people who constructed this home were truly craftsmen and built something that continues to stand the test of time. It’s hard to fathom that this family 13/14 generations later is still profiting from slavery. They profit from their ability to show and tell their family story, the “Carter family” to be precise. I don’t think it’s right to charge people to visit a space constructed using free labor. The Carter family wealth continues to accrue but what of the descendants of those enslaved here? I think more can be done here to right historical wrongs and set an example as “The oldest family run business in America.” If you’re selling the story include all the players, not just the story you choose to highlight.

Lovely place to spend some quiet time. It was initially difficult because there is a long dirt road you have to drive up to get there, wondering if you made a wrong turn. The on site signage can be confusing. It is probably best to just purchase tickets online but, if you don't, you just walk up to the Shop, hidden behind a large hedge, and buy them there. Many discounts available. The grounds are lovely with many picnic options on the shore of the river. The historic house tour is interesting and a recorded tour available for buildings around the grounds.

Pocahontas State Park

An 8,000-acre park offering hiking, biking & horse trails, plus 2 fishing lakes & an aquatic center.

Slide 1 of 3

Excellent campground. Clean and relaxing. Nice collection of hiking trails with a couple water spots for your fishing pole. Definitely recommend staying at the campground.

Such a great place to have a peaceful, relaxing time. The park is well maintained and every staff member I spoke to was kind and helpful.

I went there to be at my daughter's company party. We were at shelter 5. There are at least 9 shelters. The shelter site had BBQ pits, water that the kids and adults enjoyed using to fill squirt guns on a hot August day. Each shelter is completely surrounded by woods. This is an 8000 acre park with lakes for fishing. One of the office workers showed pictures of catfish he and his son caught. There is a gift shop with most of the things a person would need for a camping trip.

Metro Richmond Zoo

A white rhino is among the 150 species at this 70-acre zoo, with giraffe petting & a meerkat house.

Slide 1 of 3

Totally loved visiting the zoo. A must visit place for all starting from kids to elders. Different kind of animals and birds. Totally enjoyed the place and loved feeding the giraffes and birds. The animals are really healthy and lovely to watch them. 1. There is an entrance fee per person starting from 2 years old. 2. There are 3 rides inside for kids and adults and 1 for kids . One is the Penguin Fall drop which was closed when we went, then jungle carousel for kids , Sky lifts for kids and adults , safari Train ride and a small play area for kids. The three rides cost $4 each. 3. A very big parking in front of the zoo. 4. You can buy food to feed the birds and giraffes. 5. There are stalls with ice creams, fries and burger to fill in your tummy. 🤪

Great day out at the zoo! Highly recommend getting tickets ahead of time to avoid the lines. Fun to be able to feed some of the animals too. The zoo is nice because it's pretty spread out so it doesn't feel too crowded, but it's small enough that young kids can manage walking the whole way.

Fun for families but starting to show its age. Feeding animals (giraffes esp) was a highlight. Mediocre food options and the “rides” are limited which is ok since it’s a zoo but it would benefit from an update to facilities and amenities. However, bringing the young ones will be a highlight of their week.

Pamplin Historical Park

Civil War battle site & museum featuring exhibits, artifacts, camp recreations & antebellum homes.

Slide 1 of 3

Amazing site. It’s is a great history of the battle and the museums are great love the walk through a soldiers experience. The earthworks are a great walk and the recreated trenches are awesome for realization of the battle. It is a must stop for history people and non history people. The plantation and houses show the civilian life as well. And are just as important.

This was well done. The audio tour was really well done. Sadly, due to Covid and resulting cut income from lack of school groups, there were no costumed interpreters but the site is well maintained.

Hallowed ground that was a major turning point during the Civil War. Pamplin Historical Park is one of the nicest and most well-maintained parks I've ever seen. Yes, it is privately owned but the folks that work there do a phenomenal job. The place and staff are amazing. The grounds are well-kept, beautiful, and full of history. The staff is passionate and knowledgeable - very much so. Their hospitality is second-to-none. We learned a lot during our visit. It's a shame the owners are downsizing and cutting back on what they offer. I would urge the owners to divest themselves of the park through a public trust or someone who shares a historian's passion for American history if they are not up to the task. Otherwise, they should be extremely proud of the professionalism and passion their employees offer to visitors. We visited during a recent snowstorm, which was not too terrible. The staff were very accommodating while your walk through this sacred battle site is easy to navigate, either self-paced or structured. Your mileage may vary. Go. Visit and enjoy.

Lake Phoenix Scuba Park, Family Campgrounds & Paintball

A clear, spring-fed lake stocked with fish, buses & a helicopter for scuba divers, plus camping.

Slide 1 of 3

My favorite place to practice diving. I've been going since 2012. One of the first things the current owner did was make the hot showers free! There's no other place north of Florida as clean and warm as Lake Phoenix. My kids learned to dive here and I still go on my own to practice. Love that I can go 7 days a week and camping is also available 7 days a week. No problem solo diving as I've got my solo card, and there's no extra fee for solo unlike some other parks than force you to rent a tracker. Hands down favorite park and kids loved diving on the boat from movie the Replacements and helicopter from movie Black Hawk Down.

Relatively clear (but cold) water for diving. If diving in 7 mil (thick) wetsuits is your passion, this is your paradise. Campground operation is relatively new and still under development, but has few activities for non-divers.

This was our first time visiting and let me tell you, it was wonderful!!! The lake is very beautiful and the common areas where really clean including the bathrooms. While I was getting all my diving equipment I saw how they where sanitizing and cleaning other equipments. The rentals where all in pretty neat conditions. The staff was very helpful in explaining the areas and the rules. Overall Lake Phoenix is a wonderful place to have fun diving, camping and/or having a family day. I will definitely come back again!!! PS. Make sure you submit your waiver online prior to get to the lake. It will save you a ton of time.😉

Great selection of nuts. If you like boiled peanuts they have them hot/fresh there too. Regular and Cajun flavor. Beats eating a bag of salty chips on your drive.

I try to stop every time i visit my Granddaughters in Va. The Lady at the counter is always so sweet and so helpful. She even passes out samples. I try to get something new every time I go like the scorching hot barbecue sauce was great sea salted peanuts chocolate-covered pecans this time I got the Cherry butter OMG you can eat it straight out of the jar but when I got home we glazed baby back ribs with it and it was so good if you're in the area it's right off 95 you've got to stop.

Good selection of items. We are headed home to CT so we have not tried anything yet. But I brought a jam and some sea salt peanuts, candied pecans, peanut brittle and cashews. I found dill pickle flavored! It's cute little old run down fashion house with lots of charm to it. We spend almost 70. It's not a cheap place so hopefully it is worth the money. Will let you know when we finally try it.

LOVE visiting here! Have been at least three times now and also bought the family membership passes, which are also good at the NC Zoo! Every time I have been here they’ve had new birds and new exhibits opened. I have never seen such a variety of birds anywhere before in my life! No other zoo holds a candle to this place. You have a great view of every bird as well, which is awesome. It stinks when you can’t see animals at a zoo. There are multiple free flying houses you can walk through as well. The BEST part of this place is the canary house! There are hundreds of colorful birds that all fly right up on you and eat your birdseed sticks. SUPER COOL! Love this place! PLAN A VISIT!

We really like and enjoyed seeing all the types of birds. Would also be a great place to take kids and grandkids. Thanks for giving us a awesome experience.

Awesome day my kids had a blast. It was nice to slow down & take in the beautiful from all over the world. Cant wait to go back.

Medoc Mountain State Park

Family hiking in tranquil forest & creek fishing, plus cycling trails, horseback riding & campsites.

Slide 1 of 3

This is another very excellent North Carolina State Park. The campsites are spacious and comfortably separated. We are in an Airstream and the side to side level was very good but the front to back level required quite a bit of lift at the hitch to level. The sites do not have water, electric or dump hook-ups, but that is OK. We prefer to boondock. The bathroom is clean, heated with good shower area. There is a playground and picnic area with a very large open meadow. There are a lot of very pretty day trails and a stream not too far from the campground. There is not much very near to the campground as far as gas, shopping or dining. I think that is a feature, but plan ahead.

Medoc Mountain is a hidden gem of a state park. The staff at the nature center, Allen, was so, so helpful with planning our hikes that would accommodate a small child. We also got to meet Charlie the Snake! We took the Campground and Bluff trails - a nice, hilly hike. That is a rare find in this part of North Carolina. While there were a few staircases and bridges that could use some touch up (I mean, hey, they're pieces of high trafficked wood in the middle of a wet forest, some damage is only to be expected), the park upkeep was remarkable. The campground bathrooms were impeccably clean, shout out to a good camp host! The playground that they are doing construction on looks like it will be awesome. There were bathrooms, water stations and trash cans located conveniently throughout the park. Not to mention that the NC State Parks Passport stickers were available separately, how clever of an idea is that? I cannot sing Medoc Mountain's praises enough.

I had a great time hiking around Medoc Mountain. There were very few visitors while I was there on a Saturday morning. The trails were well maintained, wide, and easy to traverse. The views were nothing spectacular, but enough to keep me interested throughout the hike.

Vollis Simpson Whirligig Park and Museum

Unique park with many creative wind-powered sculptures & events such as concerts & farmers' markets.

Slide 1 of 3

Love ❤️ Love ❤️ Love ❤️ the Whirligig Park! Kudos to the ones with the vision to salvage it and bring it to downtown Wilson. It’s an amazing story of Vollis Simpson’s creativity and humility. So glad many generations will be able to enjoy. It’s a great venue to visit for any event or just to stroll. Highly recommend!🙌

Vollis Simpson Whirligig Park and Museum is a one of a kind art park. It is home to thirty large whirligigs and the largest number of gigantic kinetic sculptures in one location. These sculptures are North Carolina's Official Folk Art. Some as high as sixty feet and weigh as much as 13,500 lbs. At the American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore Maryland you will find his 55 foot tall and 45 foot wide "Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness " sculpture on permanent display. The museum and gift shop has many of his smaller sculptures on display and Anna can tell you all about everything there at the museum.

You have to see this place. We searched it out a few years back after seeing one of the whirligigs at the highway welcome center. They were just getting started then. Now it has lit pathways and a ton of whirligigs, and a nice museum. Definitely worth the stop!

Mini Muddy, one of their mascots was precious and brought so many smiles to young and old. The stadium was well organized and well kept. They made good arrangements for the handicap. I am in a wheelchair and was accommodated with seating with my party. We all enjoyed everything--the game, the food, the accommodations, the whole family experience.

Over priced tickets and food. Unsafe food: I found a dead beetle in my white paper bag below the bag of peanuts. Rude fans: someone knocked over my 95% full peanuts leaving me with about 40%. Unsafe: no one checked my bag upon entry or confirmed if I even had a ticket. Waste of money: overpriced food with bug and no need for ticket to watch the game in person. Although the county is under a mask mandate no one, volunteer, employee, fan, wore a mask. Forced paid parking. I could continue…

Great ballpark for a Low A minor league team. Seems to be in the middle of nowhere, but very convenient to get to. Typical concession selection. Killing me with the $9.00 draft beer though!!

Simply Natural Creamery

Slide 1 of 3

AWESOME PLACE!!! I have driven a bus here for field trips probably four times at least, and always enjoy going on the tour of their farm and creamery. The workers there are all so knowledgeable about their cows and the process of making the milk and everything. It is an excellent field trip for elementary age children. They will love it. And, their ice cream is awesome!!! 😊👍👍

This is a must visit dairy and ice cream shop. They have the best ice cream I’ve ever tasted. This is a great place to take kids to tour a dairy farm and have a fun outing with the family. Our favorite flavors are butter pecan and salted caramel. Highly recommend 🙌🍦

It is some of the best ice cream in Eastern North Carolina. I've had the black cherry, strawberry, and butter pecan. All of it is great.

The North Carolina Museum of Arthas an expanding collection that began in 1947 when the North Carolina General Assembly appropriated $1m for the purchase of art, making North Carolina the first state to use public funds to buy art. The museum provides guided tours as well as audio tours of its permanent collection of Egyptian, African, European, and American art. Museum Park encompasses more than 160 acres of art and nature intertwining: permanent and temporary pieces are inspired by, and interact with, nature to create a unique experience.

Don’t miss taking a stroll through the Ann and Jim Goodnight Museum Park, the 164-acre park and trail system through natural areas that features more than a dozen commissioned works of art.

© Ann and Jim Goodnight Museum Park at North Carolina Museum of Art. Based at the North Carolina Museum of Art, the Ann and Jim Goodnight Museum Park is a beautiful public space that connects art and nature with people through an array of public art installations by international artists. The park also features environmentally sustainable landscapes, miles of recreational trails, colorful and contemporary gardens, and a charming terraced pond, and offers perfect places for picnicking and enjoying the outdoors with family and friends.

Expanded in 2010 with the completion of the stunning, glass-and-steel West Building, this superb museum stands 6 miles west of downtown. Ranging far and wide, from ancient Egypt to modern Africa, its permanent collection includes works credited to Giotto and Botticelli – albeit with ‘assistance’ – and even a 17th-century ‘Golf Player’ etched by Rembrandt. The museum also holds around 20 jet-black Rodin bronzes, and a gallery celebrating alumni of the pioneering Black Mountain College near Asheville, including Robert Rauschenberg.

The North Carolina Museum of Art started out with 74 paintings donated by local businessman Robert F. Phifer and is one of the best things to do in Raleigh. Today, the museum has an impressive permanent collection that includes major European Renaissance paintings, Egyptian funerary art, sculpture and vases from ancient Greece and Rome, American art and international modern art, pre-Columbian and Oceanic art, and so much more. More than a dozen oversized art pieces are located in the museum’s park.

Although they exhibit art ranging from historical international art to contemporary art, they also have a 164 acre museum park with trails, woodlands, fields, creeks, and works of art, making it the largest museum art park in North America. This is a perfect place to go during times of good weather and times of not so good weather because of the option to indulge in art indoors and outdoors. A perfect date here during a sunny day would be to enjoy the art while walking or jogging in the museum park.

While not necessarily a 'hiking trail' the North Carolina Museum of Art has put together a 5.9-mile paved trail that winds through the museum's scenic 164-acre park. The Art to Heart Trail wraps around Meredith College, cuts through the main campus at NC State University, shoots by Pullen Park and will finish in Downtown Raleigh just outside the Duke Energy Center for the performing arts. For those of you looking for some great social media photos, you'll find them here!

What a nice community resource! The grounds are lovely. This is both an indoor and outdoor experience. The West Building has the permanent collection, and it's very decent with a few big names (Raphael, Monet, Rodin). Loved that everything is free. Lots of outdoor space designated for events and short walks/hikes.

The entire experience at this museum was exceptional! Outdoor areas are great, very peaceful and lots of sculptures. There is a lot of walking involved, so wear comfortable shoes. There are multiple nature trails as well as the outdoor exhibits, they are very relaxing and you can rent a bike. We also had lunch at the cafe and would recommend. The indoor exhibits are simply amazing! There is something for everyone, from Renaissance portraits to the ancient Egyptian collection to the Roman mosaic to the modern art. There is so much to look at and I would have spent a whole week there wandering around. There is also an interactive area that is fun for little and big kids, and even adults. Everything about this museum is great, and I would definitely recommend this for any art lover.

Easily one of the most incredible museums I’ve ever been to! Top 5 for sure. Such a hidden gem. Really thoughtful curation, juxtaposing contemporary & classical art with interesting text. Gorgeous space. Epic permanent collection.

While there are many exciting amusements at Pullen Park for people of all ages from the Carousel to the train to paddle boat rides, sometimes a peaceful picnic tucked in a less busy area of the park can be just as fulfilling. Pack your picnic basket with sandwiches made with bread from Boulted Bread and deli meat from the Butcher’s Market and have your picnic by the lake watching the ducks swim by. As an alternative to packing your own picnic lunch, Pullen Cafe’s menu has a wide variety of options from burgers and hotdogs, to quesadillas and tacos, to your staple sandwich options.

The carnival was fun.. But it's the same thing every year.. About time they add something new... Kids still had fun

Lots of stores to browse and it has a casual strip mall feel. An enjoyable shopping experience. Ample parking near each individual store so you don't have to walk a great distance unlike most other outlet malls.

Love the Outlet stores. It's in a good location and has plenty of stores with a good selection of food places in the area. It can be expensive but it's worth the experience if you don't mind walking and shopping. I like that it's only an hour from my house. I even enjoy the drive to and from my house.

Specialty Museums

Museum devoted to the legacy of Hollywood actress Ava Gardner, featuring costumes, photos & awards.

Slide 1 of 3

We were pleasantly surprised by this museum. It is very well done! You learn about the history of an interesting lady. There are number of costumes worn in movies as well her personal attire. Also a number of personal items.

I truly enjoyed the Ava Gardner Museum. It's small but filled with information about her. The movie was great.

We pass signs for this museum on our way to Myrtle Beach every year and this year we decided to stop to check it out. We are very glad we did! The lady at the front desk was very helpful and full of information about Ava and the 20 minute movie gave more background on this beautiful lady. There are lots of original items and costumes and the library is full of interesting photos and facts. Definitely worth the stop (It's easy to get to off 95) and small enough that you can see everything in 1-2 hours.

Aviator Brewing Company

Craft brewery with a rotating selection of beers plus a small taproom serving American chow.

Slide 1 of 3

My wife and I went and got a flight each, I liked every beer I tried and naturally took some home with me. The tour was fun and informative. We will be going back, it's about an hour but worth the drive if your going for good beer and a relax vibe. Service was great as I think they are back to almost full staff and they were very friendly and helpful.

Updated: Over the last 2 years I have noticed the beer quality of Aviator has gone down hill. For years I enjoyed most of their offerings but lately not so much. Not sure what they are doing but it is not the same. Food is decent so I'll still pop in from time to time but obviously with all their growth they haven't kept the same attention to detail with their beer. Original review: Some of the best beer in North Carolina. I wish they would open up a tap house in the RTP area so I wouldn't have to always go out to Fuquay....but either way I always make it a point to go visit aviator whenever I can!

Had a really great experience on the Aviator Brewing tour. I’ve never seen how beer is made but now know the entire process. On the tour we learned, we sampled beer and received these glasses. This is a must for any beer lover. Small Warning, beer smells as it’s being processed! More for adults.

Parks

Trail-filled state park set along the Neuse River & offering space for camping, swimming & fishing.

Slide 1 of 3

This park is a gem, with great facilities and plentiful options for hiking and camping, swimming and boating. They have tent sites and several cabins to rent, which appear (from photos we saw in the office) to be in excellent condition and lovely for families. Our visit only allowed time for an extended hike on several of the trails, but they were all in excellent condition and offered a nice respite from our drive back from coastal NC. Highly recommend a trip to this park for a stay, or a short visit to enjoy their nature trails and the views of the Neuse River from elevated cliffs.

Very, very beautiful. We saw anoles, frogs, a crawdad, and an owl. Also the cedar knees sticking up. Parking is easy and free, visitor center is nice, picnic areas are shaded, beautiful, and not crowded on a Monday in April. The swimming area was seasonally closed.

Depending on the time of year, this is an excellent getaway. The nature and wildlife is nice, as is the pond. During summer you can actually go swimming in the pond. The view beyond the Cliff is amazing. This park also has a campground for both RV's and tents which provide electricity, sewage and restrooms with showers. For those who just want to stay the night, nice rental cabins are available too!

Not my 1st time there, this time around I had the flounder full plate (3 pcs) with baked sweet potato and red beets, it was tender and super fresh. Will be back again!!!

Best experience ever. Nate was AMAZING. He knew what he was talking about. Showed us the wines and gave us cute back stories on every one of them. Made us feel so comfortable and welcome. I could not recommend them enough.

My first time visiting and I was delighted. Teresa and her husband are so hospitable. The wine selection is tasty from dry to sweet and every bottle had a story behind it. Nate was an awesome waiter and the food was delicious. I will be sure to visit again.

Oh no... they close at 5 and I arrived @ 5:30 🙄. Since I still have a couple hours to drive to get to my destination, I drove around for a little bit and located Stop 1 Confederate High Tide. The Battlefield is very clean and spacious. It has informative historic markers and signs. If you have time, I highly recommend doing the entire driving tour.

I love visiting here when I get the chance. Despite our difficult history as a nation, it is still important to learn from it. This place allows such an experience. I love getting to visit the visitors center, as there are some great items for sale, and it offers a bit of history on the battlefield. There is also a very nice walking trail, but it can get muddy at times. There's always something to do regardless of the time of the year.

If you haven't been and have a chance do not pass it up. Went to their "Peace to the Gallant Dead": the 157th Anniversary Commemoration. This was the anniversary of the first day of the battle. Over 4,000 luminaries lit up the battlefield to the sound of taps in commemoration of each of the casualties of the battle there. You can see the house where the injured were treated. Such a sobering experience Thank you Miss. JoCo Emilyann Marsh for the invitation to this event. I will be returning and offering to volunteer 🧜‍♀️

I had a wonderful time on the river today. This is a great outfitter. Happy to support a local family owned busines. I really liked the location. Very easy to get to with ample parking. Check in was quick and river access was right on the property making it easy to get on the water quickly. Cannot wait for my next trip.

I went up there with a group. I had already reserved my kayak rental before had. We were able to check in quickly and get started kayaking easily. Everyone was friendly. This is a lovely spot on the Cape Fear River. I definitely plan to go back again and bring my daughter(s). I will also be recommending it to friends. Thanks for a great experience!

This place was great! Went here with the family for a kayak experience and we had a blast. Will definitely go again. Pricing is on point and worth every penny. Albert beginner friendly and excellent safety introduction before you go out. The shop also sells water shoes if you happen to forget them and those are also only $10! Thank you for the experience.

Aloha Safari Zoo

Family-run zoo featuring a wide array of animals, most of which have been rescued.

Slide 1 of 3

This is a great place to take your kids. Awesome experience being able to see many types of animals. Being able to be up close and feed them was very cool. Bathrooms and wash stations are available. Both was very clean and convenient. This is a very cheap place to go for a fun day trip with your family! Will be coming back!

I had fun while I was there.. The entire zoo took no less than an hour. It was stroller friendly and kid friendly. They had a small kid area for the kids to play near the entrance. I would suggest not to buy the food to feed the animals. The zoo is small and there’s two cages in between the animals and you.. so it makes it harder to feed the animals. Plenty of people don’t finish the cup and end up leaving it everywhere. Which we needed up picking up extras along our route. They had a tiger, I was surprised. Pretty clean too!

Great place to learn and encounter exotic animals. Very educational talks in the amphitheater and details about how it all started. Donate to this great organization! The bathrooms are pretty new, air conditioned and all the details were thought of. Small sinks for kids, changing station, a chair and clean. The safari ride is a lot of fun. Soon they will be integrating the animals out in the safari ride so they can just walk up to the vehicle!

This was the first time that I experienced going to the Holiday of Lights in the Garden after living here for 10 years. There were so many lights to see. I can’t believe that I waited 10 years to come and experience this place. My daughter went to see one of her friends perform at a Christmas Show. I am very pleased with the experience. This was my first time at the Botanical Gardens and it is beautiful out there. There were so many lights and different themes of lights to see. There were little areas of kid games, vendors and even informational booths from around the community. I love supporting local businesses and there was some fresh baked goods that I bought several items from. We had some hot cocoa and coffee from the coffee stands that were there. My daughter and her friend went into this big pipe and rolled down a hill. There were picture taking with Santa and the Grinch too. It is definitely a place I would go and visit again. Prices weren’t too expensive to go in and I remember being able to buy tickets online.

Great experience! The gardens are fantastic. We went in the winter, and it was still very nice to get out and walk around. The gardens have lots to look at and great views of the river. I am sure that all the Pokemon Go lovers will be amazed at all the available content on the game that is in the gardens.

Very pretty garden with a lot of sections to walk around. Has very relaxing places to sit by the pond, under the trees, or in the gazebo. The annual membership costs half of those at other gardens I've been to. Only downside is that the actual garden area is not too large; much of the land is forested, with trails.

A great afternoon to learn and pay respect to our lost, current and future soldiers who protect us from harm. Well organized and displayed. This exhibit is free but highly recommend a donation to keep such an inspirational institution going so that we never forget what our soldiers gave/give up for the freedom we take for granted.

A wonderful visit to the Airborne and Special Operations museum just outside of Fort Bragg! Definitely allow yourself at least 2 hours to tour the entire facility and watch a few video loops. Admission is free and so is parking, there is a lot to see around the museum, memorial plaques and gardens to walk through.

Such a great homeschool field trip. There was so much to be taught and the museum does an excellent job illustrating the different roles and wars that took place. Can't believe it's donation only. They could easily charge a hefty entrance fee.

Hidden Gem in the Moore County area! The greens are in fantastic shape and the prices are affordable. Love the layout. The par 5s can be reached and #18 is the perfect finishing hole.

Great course. Would highly recommend to anyone who does not want to pay for the really expensive courses that are in the area

I would like to preface by saying the course is really quite nice and maintained very well. However, how the course is ran is awful and the workers are no more than rude gatekeepers. My wife and I paid for two green fees (approx. 70 dollars per green fee). We arrived around 10 minutes prior to tee time and were quickly rushed to our hole - (totally accept the rushing - we were driving from almost an hour way to play and took us some time to get there and I understand the schedule is busy and needs to be maintained to avoid interruptions). The man running the tee's (maybe his name was Keith) informed us that there is a rule that each golfer has to have a bag (my wife doesn't own clubs because she's still learning the game). I've played over 50 courses and this has never been an issue, however, I have mainly played in Texas, maybe the rules are a little more relaxed there than in North Carolina. We explained that we were unaware of that rule and explained that I would just play and she would just watch and keep me company. He preceded to essentially accuse her of lying by saying "You know I'm going to be roaming the holes so I'll know if you play". So this already made us not want to play here. He stopped by to talk to us about 6-7 holes later and was more personable and explained that we could get our money back for one of the green fee's since my wife wasn't playing and said to talk to the club house when we finish. Following the completion of the course I explained the situation to the club house and what Keith told us. The man working the front on Saturday May 7th, essentially mocked me and said "well I can't just pull money out of the till, you have to go through the vendor" ...They are the vendor? I tried to be cordial but was quickly losing patience with this whole experience. So now I have to go through my bank and dispute the charge. I can easily say out of the 10 years I've been playing golf this was easily the worst experience I have ever had - I will never be coming back to this course.

A amazing experience during winter one of the best light shows I've ever seen even comparing to other states I've been in! Super family friendly awesome staff and like I said one of the best light shows you'll see! It's a must check out during winter and if you're anywhere near here or even far away it's well worth the trip!

Great Winery! Enjoyed the delicious wine tasting, pleasant & knowledgeable staff, as well as the beautiful property with the fish pond. Will absolutely be back for more in the future . Thank you!

We had a lovely stay at Lu-Mil Vineyards on September 3rd as part of the Harvest Host. Andy helped us get settled into our spot and gave us all sorts of great stories about the vineyard and its history. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous abs worth a walk around the land. The site was level and had power and water. We did the tasting and walked away with 4 bottle of their wine and one wine slushy. Must have a slushy!! We would definitely come back and plan to in the future.

This stop excels where others fail. Hope you enjoy it, as we did. Blessings to All. Stay safe.

It is not new, nor fancy, but it clean, a reasonable rate, there is plenty to do. The staff was great. The restaurant food, I was only to one location and had a cheeseburger, was cheaper grade. The hamburger patty was one of those patties that was made with every part of the cow, and was small. Again, even in the restaurant, the staff was great. I would definitely stay there a again, but next time I will bring a coffee maker.

Place was spacious, nice and clean. The TV was kinda small for the size of the room. They advertise a heated pool but the pool was cold so we didn't spend about 5 minutes in it. If you go after 6 pm every thing was closed except a place that served a little bit of food. If we would have known that there was a Waffle House on the other side of the interstate we would have gone there instead. Other than that a nice souvenir shops and a great fireworks selection.
