Hey there, So, last week I saw the L'Oreal Paris Colorista collection in my local store, and really wanted to give the #RedHair a try. The reason I didn't pick the turquoise or blue was because of my orange based hair (I've got medium brown hair). The packaging told me, it was also meant for dark to light brown hair. So you wouldn't have to bleach it before putting it into your hair. It would washout after 2 weeks, and go back to your natural haircolor. Have you heard anything about the Colorista Washouts? Or even tried it? I want a dark red color to see if I like to go back to the semi-permanent red dye. It says to let the dye in for 30 minutes, however, I want a bright result, so I am planning to let it stay in for 1-2 hours. Or maybe longer. I don't know if that's a problem, but I've done it with Manic Panic and it gave me the best results. Anyone who has some advice about the dye? I would love to try it but if I can't leave it in for more than 30 minutes, I'd like to know. And if you have any experience with the Colorista dye, you're welcome to share! Would love to know. Show
This is the result I'd like to have. Dozens of people say their hair was stained green after using L’Oreal Colorista dye. According to the box, the temporary colour ‘lasts two to three shampoos,’ or around a week. But take a look at the reviews on Amazon, and many people say weeks or months after they used it, the colour has faded but left a dodgy mint or blue tinge behind. And yes, it happened to me as well. I used the lilac dye after previously getting my hair bleached and loved the result. The patches of mouldy green which stayed behind though… Not so much the look I was going for. Unfortunately I read the warnings AFTER I had slathered the dye all over my hair and waited for it to take, so by this point it was already too late. The reviewsHere are some of the reviews from others on Amazon…
L’Oreal warns that people with bleached or blonde hair should not use the turquoise, burgundy, red or orange dyes. However, there’s no suggestion that lilac, blue or purple aren’t suitable for bleached or blonde hair. The safest colours seem to be pink and peach which have mostly positive reviews (and I can confirm that the pink worked perfectly for me, with no green issues and a gradual fade out.) I asked my hairdresser what went wrong with the lilac, and she said that dyes like this can stain badly and shouldn’t be left on the hair for long at all – a maximum of 15 minutes. Putting on the dye, with no idea what was to come… (Picture: Jen Mills)However, the box says that for a vivid effect you can leave it on for up to half an hour – so I obviously did that because I didn’t want half measures lilac hair. I ended up having to get my hair sorted out in a salon when the green just wouldn’t shift, and the hairdresser put orange on it to try and neutralise it. Thankfully my hair lived to be dyed another colour, and it is no longer green and didn’t have to be cut off. But if you use the blue or the lilac, be aware that you could end up with more colour than planned. L’Oreal told Metro.co.uk: ‘The Colorista brand offers a new approach to delivering a range of colour effects to the hair – from cool pastel shades to super bright hair colours. ‘As with all hair colour products, the end-result will vary from individual to individual based different factors, including application techniques, hair condition and hair colour history. ‘L’Oréal Paris takes all feedback from our consumers very seriously. We will investigate this matter further and will take the appropriate decisions regarding the particular shades.’ MORE : 15,000 scientists have just united to give a very bleak warning for our future MORE : I wanted to change my life, so I got surprised with a dramatic hair transformation Get your need-to-know latest news, feel-good stories, analysis and moreDo you put Colorista on wet or dry hair? You apply Colorista on completely dry hair!
