This automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the fourth generation (2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and perhaps also the revised 2017 model year) Nissan Pathfinder SUV in changing a dead battery in the intelligent key fob remote control for the keyless entry and push button start systems. Owners of other Nissan or Infiniti vehicles such as the Versa, Maxima, Juke, Rogue, Altima, Xterra, Sentra, Murano, Cube, Armada, Leaf, Quest, Frontier, Teana, 370Z, GT-R, Titan, G25, G37, M35, QX56, QX60 and M37 may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. Show A replacement coin cell (A.K.A. "button" or "watch") battery is part number CR2032 which is available at Walmart, CVS, Walgreens or online at Amazon.com. The only tool needed to access and replace the key fob battery is a flathead screwdriver or a plastic pry bar tool. The first two steps are to separate the fob from the key ring with your other keys and then turn it over. Locate the small black plastic switch or button on the back side of the fob. Slide the switch to release the backup metal ignition key and slide it out of the fob. Set the metal ignition key aside in a safe place. Insert the blade of the small flathead screwdriver or a plastic pry bar tool in to the notch where the metal key used to reside. Gently pry apart the two halves of the fob. Gently push together the two halves of the key fob. Make sure that the two halves of the fob are flush together at every edge. Slide the backup / emergency metal ignition key back in to its slot. To test the new battery, stand near your SUV and press the "Unlock" or "Lock" button on the key fob. If the new battery is working properly, you should see the parking lights flashing and also hear the door locks opening or closing.
