Is 64gb iPad enough for medical school Reddit

Going to buy my first iPad as I talked to a friend and said that it is a valuable tool. As I used a lot of notebooks in undergrad, I think I will greatly benefit from using note-taking apps like notability or goodnotes. I will be using the iPad for note taking, ppts, word docs, pdf files, social media and video platforms (netflix, disney, etc). I do not do any graphic designs, make videos, and barely use any gaming apps. I have a lot of icloud storage (1Tb) but I dont know if everything can be stored there. I don't want to worry about storage or have to delete anything. I am planning on using it for all 4 years. Is 64gb + icloud storage enough for all 4 years? Thanks!

I don't wanna run out of space. No clue how big the programs are. No clue how much pics/ppts add up.

Is 64gb iPad enough for medical school Reddit

level 1

Yeah it should be enough. The most amount of space on my iPad has been taken up by textbooks or other PDF resources that I’ve used. I have a 128gb for reference though.

64gb is good for PDFs, notes, etc. If you want to keep videos on there then go with 128gb.

I have all my material from 1.5 years of school, and have only used 22gb thus far.

level 1

Definitely. My school gave me a 16 GB ipad and it was enough, although I had to delete the books from preclinical years during clinical years.

Just get a 128 gb iPad pro. I went from 16 gb (pre-med) -> 32gb (M1-M2)-> 128 gb now

Hi, I'm going to be starting school this fall and I was wondering how much storage you guys opted for on your iPads? I'm stuck between 128 and 256. I'd like to get the Pro, mostly for the pro-motion feature. And if I can get by with 128GB, the Pro is just obviously the better deal.

I have a MacBook Air, but I would like to use primarily the iPad for note-taking and textbook storage, and maybe downloading lectures? I'm not sure. I'd like to use it all 4 years, as it will be a pretty big investment for me financially. How have you used your iPad throughout medical school and how much storage would you recommend in your use case? Thanks for any help!

Edit: Thanks for all of the advice, guys! I decided to go with the 128gb since I'll be using it primarily for note-taking and leaving the heavy duty stuff to my MacBook. I've also got an external storage device, so between all of those things I feel that the 256 would be overkill for my use purposes. Again, thanks!

Recently purchased a 64gb iPad Pro and I plan on mainly using it for notes, annotation, textbooks, the occasional movie download, etc. I've been told apps like notability take close to no storage even with a lot of notes, but I'm worried there are other storage drainers that I may be missing. Even something like what the size of a full textbook downloaded locally to my iPad I'm unsure of. Students/people who fall into my use case category, would you say 64gb is enough? Whats your storage situation looking like right now?

As of right now, with iOS 15 and the standard apple apps I'm sitting at roughly 15gb used up

I’m an incoming first year med student and I’m planning to buy an iPad Air 4. I decided on the Air over the Pro for a number of reasons like Touch ID and price, but the one thing I’m concerned about is the storage... Is 64GB enough to last me through med school if I’m planning to use my iPad mainly for note-taking on Goodnotes, Anki, browsing the web, and watching YouTube? Or do you think the 128GB Pro is a better choice? Thanks in advance!

Get the 256GB. Trust me. A classmate of mine regrets she only bought the 64 GB iPad for med school. Think of it as an investment, you're gonna use it 'til your rounds as a PGI or even as a resident.

level 2

Yea I regretted it also. Napabili tuloy ng 265gb🥲

level 2

True. I regret buying the 64gb model back in freshman year. Now I shell out cash for iCloud storage... which, in retrospect, could have been moneh used to buy the 256gb model back then.

level 1

If money is not an issue go for higher storage. Apps and updates will take up a lot of space already. Esp since apple has large system updates.

And its worth since youll probably save a lot of photos, readings and books there. Its gonna last you a while if you take care of it.

Also what model are u thinking of buying?

level 2

This was the case for my old ipad... i mean it still works?? but i cant add a lot of stuff on it since it only has a small storage. This made me upgrade to 256

level 1

if u have the financial capacity always go for the higher storage options kasi the software updates take a lot a space. otherwise u can get by naman with a lower storage as long as u have online subscriptions sa googledrive, dropbox, icloud, etc. where u can transfer or backup ur files

level 1

I have the 64 and every sem I have to back up and delete my files. Very inconvenient lalo if you have to refer to old notes.

level 1

64 gb is good if mainly po pang-pdf files for books and transes (i checked my notability, goodnotes and pdf expert, microsoft word and ppt storage more or less 5gb total pero disclaimer 3 months palang po ako nasa med school hehe). However, if you want to use it for videos and movies, higher than 64 gb po mas advisable

level 1

The higher storage, the better, especially since for long term use siya. It's going to be expensive for now but it's a worthwhile investment :)

level 2

hello doc! hehe yes, i was the one who asked a few days ago... it's not that "gustong gusto"ko yung Ipad Mini/Air. it's just that i'm stuck between better performance or better storage. and yes, if yung Ipad Mini/Air ang bibilhin ko, yung budget ko is for 64 gb lang since I am a student pa and yung price nun is almost exact sa price ng Ipad 9th Gen 265 gb. anw, thank you for taking ur time to reply po.

level 2

64gb and it's enough hehe

Is 64GB enough for iPad med student?

Overall, we think the iPad Air at 64GB is a solid choice for college. It's more affordable than the iPad Pro, yet offers a comparable performance for all your studying, research, and note-taking needs.

How many GB iPad do I need for medical school?

You will likely fill the iPad with books and even if they are picture heavy, 128 Gb should be sufficient. No need for large dataset and complex software that takes up large of space in med school as I see it. Wouldn't os 16 take a lot of space in the long run ?

Is 128GB enough for iPad med school?

Then, yes, 128GB would be fairly enough.
