Show TL;DR
Earlier this month, Samsung moved the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus to end-of-life status. This meant the most recent update for these devices was their last. The builds are QP1A.190711.020.G960USQU9FVB2 and QP1A.190711.020.G965USQU9FVB2 for the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus respectively. Release notes say the builds come with the March 2022 security patch and some bug fixes. Theoretically, this should be the final Samsung Galaxy S9 update. However, Samsung has continued updating EOL phones several times in the past. Recently, the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 received a surprise update, for example. Do understand, though, that the official word is that the Galaxy S9 series is no longer supported. If you’re still rocking one of these phones, this final update should be the sign you need that it’s time to upgrade. There are a lot of great Samsung phones to be had, or you could even jump brands. Either way, the Galaxy S9 is old hat and it will soon be time to move on if only for the sake of smartphone security. i

How long will the Galaxy S9 be good for?Performance and software
The Galaxy S9 proves that smartphone hardware these days is perfectly capable of lasting four years or longer — provided software support is extended long enough.
Should I upgrade from S9 to S22?The Galaxy S22 series, with Android 12-based One UI 4 and four years of version upgrades (plus five years of security patches), is definitely the better option from the software and security standpoint. All that said, you don't have to go out of your way to upgrade just yet if you have the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus.
Can I still use a Galaxy S9?Thanks to its Snapdragon 845 chip, the S9 should still feel quick for another couple of years. And even though this phone is not receiving any more major Android OS updates, you can still expect Samsung to release security patches that will keep this phone safe.
