Is the demon slayer season 2 out

Demon Slayer is almost back for its second season, but before the anime returns it will get a brief arc that recuts the Mugen Train movie into seven episodes. This arc will start on Oct. 10, while Demon Slayer season 2 will be released on Dec. 5.

Update (Oct. 7): Crunchyroll has released a new promo trailer for Demon Slayer’s Mugen Train arc and the official season 2 Entertainment District arc.

Demon Slayer’s return to the Mugen Train arc won’t be exactly what fans saw in theaters. Instead, the short prequel arc will try to seamlessly bridge the gap between the anime’s first and second seasons by expanding the movie into seven separate episodes with several new scenes. The arc will also include an entirely original episode that takes place before the events of the movie.

As for Demon Slayer’s actual second season, it will start off with a special hour-long episode when it premieres on Sunday, Dec. 5. The anime’s second season will follow the events of the manga’s Entertainment District arc, which will introduce the series’ latest major demon, Daki.

For now, Funimation has announced that the Mugen Train arc will be available to stream on the Funimation website along with Hulu and Crunchyroll. Season 2 will also be available to stream on Funimation and Crunchyroll.

If you’re a Demon Slayer fan still waiting for Netflix to add the second season of the beloved anime to its site, we fear you’re going to be waiting quite a long time because Demon Slayer season 2 is not coming to Netflix in May 2022.

To this very day, we aren’t exactly too sure why the streaming site has yet to update the title with its new season. After all, the first season is still a part of Netflix’s anime lineup and hasn’t been announced to be leaving anytime soon.

What’s more, Netflix updates its other anime titles pretty regularly. The Seven Deadly Sins has all its installments, as does Komi Can’t Communicate, Hunter x Hunter, and Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, so it is rather odd that Netflix hasn’t added Demon Slayer‘s second season this month.

Could Netflix be in the works to rectify its mistake, or will Demon Slayer season 2 never be a season subscribers will be able to watch? We tell you everything we know so far here.

When will Demon Slayer season 2 come to Netflix?

According to What’s On Netflix, fans may be able to expect season 2 to arrive sometime in 2023.

The prediction is based on the fact Netflix acquired Demon Slayer season 1 approximately 16 months after the finale aired in Japan. Should the pattern repeat, June 2023 is the month fans can look out for.

Fortunately, waiting for this date is not all bad news because, based on Netflix’s theorized timeline, it’s likely that the anime’s record-breaking film, Demon Slayer: Mugen Train, is also on the way, and it’ll be much sooner than June 2023.

Mugen Train was released in Japan in October 2020 and was available in most countries by April 2021. With this in mind, it’s possible fans can expect to see this hair-raising film as early as this Summer or, latest, by the end of the year. (Of course, these are all predictions, so definitely take this with a grain of salt!)

Hopefully, Netflix will release Demon Slayer season 2 (and the anime’s film) sometime soon, mainly because its highly anticipated third season is already underway. Take a look at the official trailer below.

Stay tuned for more updates on whether Demon Slayer season 2 will finally be added to Netflix. Until then, feel free to head over to Crunchyroll and Hulu, two streaming sites that currently have the sophomore season.
