Is Your Lie in April classical music?

"Pianoteq manages to keep it all together yet simultaneously also go in all directions; like a quantum particle entangled with an unknown and spooky parallel universe simply waiting to be discovered."

There is a CD release (ESCL-4302) with all the non-original tracks featured in the anime. You can find more info about it on VGMDB.

As you can see there, the violinist is Yuna Shinohara (篠原悠那) and the pianists are Tomoki Sakata (阪田知樹) and Eriko Kawachi (河地恵理子).

VGMDB also provides scans of the booklet, here is the page showing this information (red rectangle):

Is Your Lie in April classical music?

A fantastic anime telling the story of a piano prodigy and a free-spirited violinist, “Your Lie in April” features a great variety of music from the original soundtrack to the classical pieces played by the characters.

Each episode in this anime has unique musical moments as characters prepare for the competition. Being an anime fan and a musician, I was dying to get the soundtrack album.

However, when I bought the 65-track original soundtrack album, I sadly realized that the album didn’t feature any of the classical pieces. Although the original soundtrack of the anime is fantastic as well, I thought there may be other people who’d like to know the names of the classical pieces played by the characters.

That’s why I compiled this list of all songs played in “Your Lie in April”. Along with the names of the pieces, you’ll find the links for streaming and musical scores in case you want to learn how to play them as I did!

If you prefer having all of these classical pieces from the anime in one CD, I’d recommend checking out this one.

When “Your Lie in April” (“Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso”) was released as an anime four years ago, there was great potential for A-1 Pictures to improve on the original manga due to the inclusion of live music in an music-themed anime that was originally difficult to express through the original manga. Fortunately for us, they did not disappoint and every single music piece in the anime was beautifully played and animated, from the original soundtrack to the classical pieces played by the characters.

However, when I listened to the 55-track original soundtrack for the anime released in 2015, I found that none of the classical pieces were actually on the soundtrack! This realization led me to make this post to compile the missing music in one place (in rough chronological order by episodes) with YouTube links for everyone to enjoy. I’ll also briefly describe the context of the piece before each link (with no spoilers).
