K tip hair extensions pros and cons

Hair extensions add length and thickness to your hair, making them perfect for those who aren’t able to grow their hair long or those who have thin hair.

There are various types of hair installation techniques, the most popular of which is keratin-tips. Also known as K-tip hair extensions, they have grown to popularity and have become our most demanded hair extension service.

If you’re considering getting K-tip hair extensions installed, here are some pros and cons that you should know about:

Pros of K-tip extensions

Provide the most natural look

Keratin tip hair extensions provide, by far, the most natural look and feel to your hair. They are attached to the hair with keratin bonds in tiny sections. They blend into your natural hair well and cannot be detected. So if you’re out and about and there’s a breeze, you don’t have to worry about your hair extensions showing.

Can be styled however you like

K-tip hair extensions allow for 360 degree movement, which means they can be styled any way you like. With other extension styles, you have to style them in a particular way to prevent the seams or beads from being visible. With K-tips you can confidently sport a sleek ponytail, half up dos, and other hair styles.

Maintenance costs are low

The maintenance of K-tip extensions is easier than other types of hair extensions. Once they are installed, you don’t have to worry about them. Just take care of them like your natural hair.

Cons

Installation takes a while

Since K-tip hair extensions have a natural look, their installation is very intricate. It takes a long time to carefully install these hair extensions, which might be a put off for certain clients. The application process can take a few hours, however, if you’re used to having your hair dyed at the salon, the waiting time isn’t much different.

At Home Maintenance

It is super important to brush the ktips daily using a double bristle brush on the point of attachment. You will section out each row and brush, making sure none of the pieces are getting tangled together.

APPLICATION

Types of hair extensions- keratin extensions

Keratin hair extensions are also called U-tip, nail-tip, keratin bond, hot-fusion, pre-bonded extensions. Keratin extensions take their name from their keratin bases tips that are attached with the strands with heating element. A heated keratin bond is used to attach the keratin hair extensions to your natural hair in the form of small bundles.
Interestingly the composition of your hair is actually 90% keratin, so using keratin is far safer as compared to usual glue.

Keratin hair extensions applied with hot fusion allow you to employ a variety of hair styles (including the more difficult “updos” and hair down)

KERATIN HAIR EXTENSIONS

Tips for keratin hair extensions use:

Keratin bonds must be kept at least at a distance of 1cm from your scalp
Use these extensions sparingly. Overdoing can put your hair at the risk of damage.
Keratin hair extensions are not DIY stuff. Always opt for a quality hair stylist. Cheap jobs can damage your hair forever.
Be sure to pull the extensions in the correct direction only.
Fit your hair extensions at least at the distance of 5 cm from hair lines and crowns. These hairs (being too fine) can be damaged and risk to being seen if attached any closer.
To avoid strands getting knot up, keep a distance of 1cm gap between the bonds.
Keep the density at 1g/ strand. Any more can make your hair too heavy.

Avoid playing with the extensions. It may expose your scalp to stress.

Cost:$$$-$$$$

The cost of your keratin hair extensions would depend upon your location, the number of strands applied and the brand opted for.

Maintenance:

Never apply oil-based products or tendency to over style. Maintain only every 2-3 months. Maintenance must include removal of Keratin Fusion extension. Apply re-bond to the individual extension and re-apply to your hair.
