La Roche Posay vs Differin Reddit

La Roche Posay vs Differin Reddit

I just learned that La Roche-Posay has a 0.1% Adapalene gel. Has anyone tried it, and how does it compare to Differin? The price points are very similar, otherwise that's how I would make my decision. Has anyone heard about any major differences in the two products? I know La Roche-Posay is a solid company and I just started using their gel cleanser and I love it, but I know Differin is the OG, so I'm just wondering how they compare.

Thanks!

Thanks! That video was super helpful. Also, lol thanks, I'm pretty proud of myself for coming up with it!

They are 100% identical- even made in the same place. Also CVS, Walgreens, and Proactive sell it, they are also 100% identical. Buy whichever is the most affordable at the time.

Just checked mine today and differin's package says it is "made in canada". The LRP, if I remember it right, is made in india. But yeah, it doesn't matter.

Also the cheapest of them all is probably the one from AcneFree. Their adap 0.1% is $17+ right now on amazon and has the same INCI as the LRP.

I've tried both! For my skin, they worked about the same. I think my skin might be a bit more sensitive and dry with the LRP one but its nothing that would deter me from going back to differin and vise versa. Hope this helps you! (:

Tried them both and they are almost similar. The main difference is the preservative systems used. LRP uses phenoxyethanol from what I remember while Differin uses methylparaben. Also differin is thinner in my opinion.

My Dermatologist recommend LA Roche- Posay over Differin.

Maybe because if the name and what they can charge for it??

I buy whichever one is cheaper at the time I need some. Usually it's LRP that I use, but it was out of stock when I needed a fresh one so I grabbed Differin. They're pretty similar and I get my desired results from both.

I tried Differin and LRP for 3 months each one. They both controlled my acne pretty well but Differin gave such a nice glow to my skin that only for that reason I will keep using it over LRP even though differin is a little more irritating.

Hi, me again lol. When I had insane hormonal acne taking up my entire face, I did hours of research obsessing over it every day. You’ll want to take advice from scholarly articles and the FDA, not glamor websites and random word of mouth (sorry if this sounds harsh, I learned this the hard way.) Like someone else has mentioned, the “clean beauty movement” is absolutely just a marketing strategy. I referred to my textbooks (in school for health information tech) and also referred to advice from dermatologists, scientists, and the FDA. Please don’t let parabens scare you away from a good product. Parabens are used to keep cosmetics and skincare from molding and growing harmful bacteria.

“Are parabens safe as they’re used in cosmetics? Are they linked to breast cancer or other health problems?

FDA scientists continue to review published studies on the safety of parabens. At this time, we do not have information showing that parabens as they are used in cosmetics have an effect on human health.“ https://www.fda.gov/cosmetics/cosmetic-ingredients/parabens-cosmetics#are_parabens_safe
