There is no secret how beloved the music of Twilight is. Whatever the opinion might be about the films, the soundtracks were some of the best collections of songs. They not only capture the emotions and characters in the movies very well, but they also fit perfectly together, even though they’re made up of tons of different artists. 

Robert Pattinson has even said more recently that the soundtracks “were quite ahead of their time.” And while it’s hard to pick favorite tracks considering everyone has their top ones (and there are so many) here are seven iconic songs that capture the spirit of The Twilight Saga. 

1. ‘A Thousand Years‘

Starting off with songs from Breaking Dawn, “A Thousand Years” came in late to the game compared to others. But it has shot ahead as one of the most recognizable Twilight songs. It appeared in both parts of Breaking Dawn, but had a very significant moment in the final installment. The lyrics depict Edward and Bella’s love story specifically, and having it play as Bella finally opens up her mind to Edward is an emotional moment for fans. So this song is definitely high up on the list of iconic Twilight tracks. 

2. ‘Turning Page‘

Another slower song, “Turning Page” was played as Bella walked down the aisle to Edward at their wedding. Sleeping At Last has the ability to create songs that just hit the heartstrings in the best way. And they really did it with this one. If a Twihard ever says they want a Twilight-themed wedding, expect this song to be front and center. 

3. “Roslyn“

Alright, New Moon was a very emotional and sad movie, mostly because Bella is depressed throughout. Edward leaves her, thinking he’s protecting her from his vampire side, but really he just puts her in more danger and makes her very unhappy. And “Roslyn,” which has become the resident brooding song for Twilight fans, is what plays right before he leaves her in the woods. It brings an air of sadness to the movie, and is also great to play during rainstorms. 

4. ‘Possibility‘

Another depressing moment in the film, “Possibility” plays as Bella is going through her distraught episode after Edward leaves. Most famously, it’s the song in the background as Bella stares out her window as months go by. It’s iconic because, like a few others on this list, fans can pinpoint the exact moment this plays, just by hearing it. 

5. ‘Decode‘

Getting into the very first movie that started this all, there’s “Decode.” It only played during the credits, but it is the anthem for Twilight. It evokes a sense of nostalgia for fans, but Paramore also went hard with this one. It’s unfortunately not on Spotify, but a live version of it is. And the music video? One of the best things to come out of the Twilight franchise. 

6. ‘Supermassive Black Hole‘

While Twilight is not a baseball movie, it has one of the most well-known baseball scenes in cinematic history. And it’s fantastic. “Supermassive Black Hole” was the best musical decision in that first movie, among many great decisions. And it elevated the already great scene. To be honest, this song made that scene what it is. 10 out of 10, this is the definition of “iconic.”

7. ‘Flightless Bird, American Mouth’ 

“Flightless Bird, American Mouth” is probably the most iconic Twilight song. There could be an argument for “Decode” or “A Thousand Years,” but this song was something else. It not only fits the ambience of the movie and Edward and Bella’s love story, but it also sounds perfect in the scene where they dance at prom. It’s a pretty significant scene too, because it’s the first time Bella expresses to Edward how serious she is about becoming a vampire. And this song carries over into Breaking Dawn Part 1, when they get married. A nice full-circle moment for human Bella’s big life events.
