Lush Wash That Man Right Out Of My Hair Shower Gel is a new shower gel that recently launched in the UK and is now available in the US and coming to Lush stores shortly. I’m a lover of Lush Shower Gels so I snatched this up during a recent UK order about a month and half ago.

Like I need more shower gel. I’m such an addict.

If you’re a child of the 80’s you likely remember the commercial for Cairol Loving Care with the catchy little jingle, “I’m going to wash that gray right out of my hair!” Or if you’re an old movie fan like me you remember the original version from South Pacific, “I’m going to wash that man right out of my hair!”

Honestly, this is the dumbest name for a shower gel evers. It’s a shower gel, not a shampoo, so why you washing that man right out of your hair?! I’m so confused, someone hold me. I will say in Lush’s defense they have always fondly recommended their shower gels as shampoo from time to time (but this wasn’t recommended as such) however, as much as I want my hair smelling like Snow Fairy I wouldn’t recommend it as a shampoo because it makes my hair like hay likewise for their other shower gels.

Anyway, name aside, this is delighted.

It’s loaded up with soothing lavender, jasmine, rose petal, guava and fig. It kinda makes me sleepy and relaxed whenever I use it as the soothing, relaxing scent of lavender mixed with sweeter floral and fruit notes makes it a very comforting fragrance. I should say I don’t like lavender very much but this has a slight sweetness that makes the scent very, very appealing. It smells a lot like Lush Angels on Bare Skin!

Sadly, this is in shower experience. Must Lush Shower Gels have a strong, lingering fragrance out of the shower but Wash That Man Out of Your Hair seems to be in shower only experience as I didn’t catch much of a fragrance after exiting the shower and drying off.

This one is my in my nighttime shower routine. It’s soothing, comforting and the beautiful soft slightly sweetened notes of herbally lavender make for a very relaxing shower.

There are times when I feel as if I'm missing something - when the whole world is raving about a particular product or scent family, and I'm left scratching my head and wondering whether there is something wrong me when I'm unable to feign the same enthusiasm as everyone else. This shower gel is one such product.

For many Lushies, Wash That Man Right Out Of My Hair Shower Gel has been a long time coming and perhaps even slightly overdue for some. Sharing its scent with the popular Cocktail family, this shower gel has a fragrance that was designed to play homage to classic French perfumery - an area I'm fairly uneducated in so I didn't really know what to expect when I first took a sniff.

While I am a big fan of citrusy, fruity smells, this one just didn't sit as well with me as I was hoping it would. Similar in consistency to both Ponche and Hot Toddy, this bright red Oxford Street exclusive is a refreshing shower gel best suited for the warmer months.

Containing a jasmine and rose petal infusion, it is these two ingredients, along with the ylang ylang absolute, that dominate the overall smell - the latter ingredient offering a very potent but equally smooth bitter-sweet, heady floral aroma. The smooth blend of ylang ylang, lavender and jasmine really make this shower gel one you have to get used to - straight from the bottle and I found it far too strong for my liking.

Although it is far from a mint smell, the strength of the ingredients give it the same sort of harshness you would expect from a peppermint toothpaste - that pungent kick of freshness that translates onto the body when you're applying it in the shower.

With the fresh fig juice, guava juice and peach juice, Wash That Man is a bright and very fruity offering - one that reminds me a little of Beautiful and The Sun but much heavier, with more depth and with a slight hint of woodiness. While this might sound a little off-putting, this shower gel reminds me of a rather bitter orange that has been left to 'turn' a little in the sun - giving off a sweet but rather pungent bitter element.

Wash That Man Right Out Of My Hair is easy to use and you really don't need much to work up an impressive lather. The shower gel's consistency is quite thick and is incredibly moisturising -  leaving your skin feeling instantly soft and visibly radiant. It lathers up really easy as well so you need very little with each use - meaning that a 500g bottle would last you a good 4-6 months with daily use.

Unfortunately, this is one of those scents that just doesn't sit particularly well with me. While the perfume has time to mature on the skin and mellow out a little, this shower gel is very 'in your face' and I found it too overpowering to really enjoy it. In the shower, the heat of the water meant that I was engulfed in the fragrance of this and I found it very unpleasant.

Don't get me wrong - there is not really anything wrong with the scent, and the product itself works perfectly well. However, for me it just wasn't a scent that agreed with my senses enough to continue using it, and so for that reason I probably would never buy another bottle again.
