Blue is always a popular colour at the races and there are so many fabulous shades of blue, from powder blue to rich navy blues.

Some fun combinations seen lately are blue and khaki, blue with red, and blue and maroon.

Orange is such a fun colour to wear and perfect for Spring! I personally love to pair orange with other rich tones like navy blue and forest green.

Orange and teal is a beautiful combination to try especially if your orange is in a burnt orange shade.

Nothing brightens a mood like bright yellow! Yellow also looks great with blue- of all shades, from light to dark. It looks great with pink too, but my personal favourite would have to be yellow and purple!

What better way to stand out than in a red dress! A favourite combo of mine is red and blue, especially baby blue. Red also looks great with purple accents and maroon.

Green was quite popular at the track last year and has carried over to this year, so I’m sure it’ll be a big hit this Autumn/ Winter Racing Carnival. Green pairs nicely with pinks, red and blue.

This year’s Pantone colour of the year and a great Autumn/ Winter colour as well, purple looks great with lighter shades of purple, reds/pinks, greens and yellow.

Maroon is a favourite colour of mine, especially in winter. Pair your maroon with pinks for a stand out feminine combo.

Grey is a lovely and interesting shade to wear. Popular of late, grey looks pretty paired with spring colours like pink and yellow.

While all the above colour combinations have been proven at racecourses around Australia, don’t be afraid to try pairing a colour combination of your own! Trying something new and fresh is a great way to stand out and wow the judges.

Unexpected Colour Combinations that Just Work

As I mentioned at the start of this post, I find that most colours can mix together well. You’d be surprised at just how many unusual colour combinations just seem to work!

Below are some examples of some traditionally not-so-popular combinations that look pretty darn cool…

Ever thought about pairing khaki with lime green? Well Anna shows us that it does indeed look very funky and is a great Autumn/Winter colour combo to try.
