What temperature should a sub zero refrigerator be set at

I finally purchased a SZ 611 after agonizing over it for a long, long time. I love how it looks but I am concerned about the internal temperature settings.

I have the freezer set at 00 degrees and the refrigerator set at 38 degrees. However, I've been using refrigerator thermometers to test the temperature and the fridge is registering almost 40 degrees. I've moved the thermometer around but even when I have it on the low shelf I'm not seeing 38 regularly. I also check it first thing in the morning so it should be optimally cool from being closed overnight.

The freezer is registering about 10 degrees, which is in the "freeze" range on the thermometer but I don't like fact that it's so far off from the setting.

Has anyone else ever bothered to test their temperature settings or am I just crazy to be obsessing about this? Should I just turn the settings down until the thermometer registers properly and get on with my life? LOL
