What time does the thursday night football game come on

Thursday Night Football looks a little different as the 2022 NFL schedule gets underway. Starting this season, Amazon Prime is the exclusive home of the league's Thursday night package.

Originally set to start in the 2023 NFL season, Amazon and the NFL agreed to start the new arrangement this fall instead.

This marks the first time that the NFL will play games locked behind a subscription service. Amazon has carried games before, but always in tandem with a live broadcast on a network TV channel.

It's a big change for the NFL and its fans, who will have to subscribe to Amazon Prime in order to see the league's Thursday Night Football games.

To watch Thursday Night Football games, you will need an Amazon Prime account and subscription. From there, you can select the game on the Prime landing page when it's being played live.

Thursday Night Football will continue to kick off at 8:20 p.m. Eastern time, though teams and times are subject to change.

How to access the game

First, log into your Amazon account and go to the Amazon Prime Video section. If you're not a member, you will have to join.

Prime offers two forms of membership: $14.99 per month or $139 per year. Prime Video membership alone is $8.99 per month.

Once you access the Prime Video section, there will be a prompt at the top of the page to view the live Thursday Night Football broadcast.

This year, the NFL scored a pair of high-profile names to call its Thursday games. Al Michaels comes over from NBC, where he was working Sunday Night Football, to do play-by-play, and Kirk Herbstreit will provide color analysis alongside.

Herbstreit will also be providing college football commentary for ESPN this season.

NFL fans were treated to a solid "Thursday Night Football" game in Week 7 of the 2022 NFL season. Week 8's game looks like it should like up to the hype as well.

The Buccaneers are playing host to the Ravens on Thursday as each squad looks to further its chances of competing for a division title.

Both the Ravens and Buccaneers are tied for their division lead entering Week 8. Neither has been overly impressive — they have a combined record of 7-7 — but each has the talent needed to make a playoff push.

Lamar Jackson and Tom Brady have played one another just once in their careers. Jackson's Ravens won that contest, 37-20. Brady will certainly be out for revenge in this one and will look to rally his troops to play with high intensity. That's something that Todd Bowles has been trying to get out of his team for weeks.

Here's everything to know about the Buccaneers vs. Ravens matchup ahead of Amazon's Thursday night NFL broadcast.

Who plays on Thursday Night Football tonight?

  • Matchup: Ravens at Buccaneers
  • Location: Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla.

The Ravens are traveling to Tampa Bay to face the Buccaneers in Week 8 of the 2022 NFL season. The two teams are in the thick of their divisional races to this point, but each have also underachieved this year.

The Ravens (4-3) are coming off a 23-20 win over the Browns in Week 7 and are tied for first in the AFC North with the Bengals (4-3). Baltimore relied on Lamar Jackson early in the season to carry the team, but the top quarterback has regressed a bit in recent weeks due to injuries to his top receivers and blockers.

While Baltimore is in the process of getting back on track with Gus Edwards healthy, its defense will need to play better to stay atop the AFC North. The Ravens have blown a double-digit lead in each of their three losses this season.

Meanwhile, the Buccaneers are coming off a 21-3 defeat to the Panthers, one that is among the worst losses of Brady's career. The Buccaneers' offense has sputtered this season despite the presence of Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. They have the league's worst rushing offense (64.4 yards per game) and that has caused Brady to throw more than Tampa Bay desires.

MORE: What's wrong with the Buccaneers' offense?

It seems like the changes to Brady's interior offensive line are impacting him greatly. He has been under pressure a lot with Ryan Jensen out and Ali Marpet retired. Unless the line can block better. Tampa Bay may continue to have trouble scoring.

As such, this could be more of a defensive battle than most expect. Still, it should be close between John Harbaugh and Todd Bowles' teams.

What time is the NFL game tonight?

  • Date: Thursday, Oct. 27
  • Time: 8:15 p.m. ET

The Buccaneers vs. Ravens game will kick off at 8:15 p.m. ET on Thursday. Both teams are located on the east coast, so local kickoff time will also be 8:15 p.m. ET.

Every Amazon "Thursday Night Football" game for 2022 is scheduled to begin at 8:15 p.m. ET.

What channel is Thursday Night Football on tonight?

  • TV channel (Baltimore): WMAR (Channel 2)
  • TV channel (Tampa Bay): WTVT (Channel 13)
  • Live stream: Amazon Prime Video | DAZN (in Canada)

"Thursday Night Football" is set to be broadcast on Amazon Prime Video for the next decade-plus as part of an agreement the streaming service signed with the NFL. That means that fans living in the non-local-area markets for the Thursday night teams will need a subscription to Amazon Prime to watch these contests.

The good news for those in the Baltimore and Tampa Bay markets is that the contest will be available to watch on cable TV in local television markets. Baltimore-area viewers will be able to broadcast the game with ABC affiliate WMAR while Tampa Bay fans can catch it on Fox affiliate WTVT.

Amazon has put a lot of resources into its week-to-week broadcast, as legendary play-by-play man Al Michaels will be on the call for the game along with Kirk Herbstreit, who is in his first season as an NFL color commentator. Kaylee Hartung is the sidelines reporter while a studio crew consisting of veteran host Charissa Thompson and former players like Tony Gonzalez, Richard Sherman, Andrew Whitworth and Ryan Fitzpatrick handles pregame, halftime and postgame coverage of the event.

Viewers in Canada will be able to watch the game on DAZN.

NFL live stream for Thursday night game

  • Live stream: Amazon Prime

If you want to watch "Thursday Night Football" in 2022, you are going to need a subscription to Amazon Prime. It will be the exclusive streaming home of "TNF" for the next 11 years, and the games will only be broadcast on over-the-air TV in the local markets of the participating teams.

NFL schedule Week 8

The Ravens vs. Buccaneers game will mark the start of NFL Week 8 with a solid-looking matchup. Both teams have had their share of struggles, but the quarterback duel between Jackson and Brady may be among the best of the week.

The "Sunday Night Football" game will, of course, rival that. Aaron Rodgers' Packers are looking to get off the schneid against Josh Allen's Bills. The Packers have lost three consecutive games while the 5-1 Bills are coming off a bye week and should be ready for action as big home favorites.

"Monday Night Football" will be a divisional clash between Joe Burrow's Bengals and Jacoby Brissett's Browns. Cincinnati has improved to 4-3 after an 0-2 start and looks poised to make a run at a division title with Baltimore breathing down its neck.

There will be one more stand-alone game in Week 8: The Broncos and Jaguars are facing off in London, in the NFL's third international game of the season. Both teams have stumbled to 2-5 records and will look to get back on track in what could be a defensive struggle.
