One of the biggest football clubs not just in England but in the world, Manchester United will be looking to get back to the very top this season.

Without any sustained success since the days of Sir Alex Ferguson, Manchester United will want to break up the success of their dominant rivals Liverpool and Manchester City.

With the club under new management, at the beginning of a new project, and an inspired Cristiano Ronaldo, they are a team to watch this season.

With such a competitive league and some amazing new signings, there are some fantastic live football games to look forward to this season for all football fans. Check out the team fixtures below:

Man United vs Leicester City LIVE: Sept 2nd – 5:00am AEST Optus Sport
Man United vs Arsenal LIVE: Sept 5th – 1:30am AEST Optus Sport

Manchester United vs Newcastle United is a timeless Premier League fixture, made famous by the glory days of Kevin Keegan and the Entertainers. In recent years it has lost its shine and competitiveness, but with a newly wealthy Newcastle looking to upset the ruling order, this is a fixture to look forward to.

Another game that defined the Premier League for years is Manchester United vs Arsenal. Where once both teams were fiercely competing against each other for the league, now there is an intense rivalry for a Champions League position. Still, there can be only four – will one of them miss out?

And a fixture that is sure to bring back memories of the glory days for some Manchester United fans is their match against Nottingham Forest. The league hasn’t seen a Nottingham Forest team since the days of David Beckham and Roy Keane – when Ole was a footballer and Kevin Phillips was the top scorer.

Premier League preview: Manchester United

Erik Ten Hag is the man tasked with taking Manchester United back to the pinnacle of English football. During his time at Ajax in his native Netherlands, he took them to within seconds of a Champions League final and won several league titles along the way. Erik Ten Hag must now apply his magic to this fallen giant.

But with no experience managing in a top-five league, never mind in the Premier League, there is a sense of the unknown when it comes to this season. Stability is the key thing for this team, beginning with a complete restructuring of the playing squad.

Paul Pogba, who epitomised the post-Ferguson era, has completed his cycle and returned to Juventus. There are suggestions that Harry Maguire will lose the armband and that up to three defenders will be sold.

And Ten Hag is trying to bring in familiar and reliable faces from his high-pressing former Ajax teams to ease the transition and get Manchester United playing with a recognisable identity. Frenkie De Jong of Barcelona is the prime target, and other current Ajax stars have been linked.

If Ten Hag can get the new players in early along with a good July preseason, then it will be interesting to see how his Dutch philosophy stands up against the ideologies of Klopp and Guardiola this season. Can they push for the league, or will the top four be enough for them in the first season of this new project?

Manchester United key players

Last year Manchester United sealed one of the biggest transfers in their recent history when their superstar son returned home.

Cristiano Ronaldo showed that he is still one of the main men in the English Premier League despite his age, with an amazing tally of 18 goals last season while every other player at Manchester United seemed to struggle and the team finished sixth. He is key to their rebuild and getting back into the UEFA Champions League.

Jadon Sancho was a statement signing last season when Manchester United broke the bank to sign him from Dortmund. A star player in Germany and for England, it seemed he would be the man along with Ronaldo to push the team up the table.

However, after an inconsistent first season, there are some doubts. Sancho has a new manager and a clean slate and if he can get anywhere near his Dortmund form, he will be a key player for Manchester United this season.

Must-see Manchester United football matches

The Premier League is one of the most competitive leagues in the world – that’s why we love it. Premier League games are never easy – there are no certainties in this league.

If you are a Manchester United fan, the early games against Liverpool in August and Manchester City in October are unmissable, and the Arsenal fixture will always be a massive one.

Matches against fellow top-four rivals such as the newly owned Chelsea and Tottenham will play a crucial role in the final league table. And games against former Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira’s Crystal Palace, Liverpool legend Gerrard’s Aston Villa, and the almost-relegated Leeds are always very entertaining EPL fixtures.
