Yes No Voted Undo Score 1 Cancel Add a comment 0/1024 Cancel Post commentI can't speak directly to the 2006 model, but can tell you that anything between a 2007 and 2012 locates the fuel pump relay inside the TIPM box (your fuse box under the hood). Unfortunately, this relay is a HUGE source of trouble for a LOT of Jeep, Dodge and Chrysler owners! Dodge will NOT replace the relay as the TIPM is considered a non-repairable unit. I'd wager you are having starting problems that are probably getting worse. Cranks, but won't fire, right? Dodge will charge you between $1,200 and $1,500 to replace the entire TIPM box. Then a few years later, they'll want to do it again. The fix is to use 2 "add-a- line" fuse connectors to connectors to connect M7 (accessory power port fuse) to M25 (fuel pump relay fuse). How do I know? I just did it about ten minutes ago and it works! Doing this provides power to the pump and only when the ignition is turned on. Inkedgorilla answered 6 years ago I have a 2007 RAM 1500 HEMI and it will crank but not start. I took off the air box and sprayed starter fluid into the throttle body and the truck started for a few seconds. So do I run the jumper between spot 7 and 25 in the fuse box? Because it says that 7 is "reverse lockout sol batt srt10" and 25 is "pwr mirror"? Please excuse my ignorance on this but we just had a baby and do not have money to take my truck to a shop or dealership. Any help is appreciated. Thank you. 85 people found this helpful. needhelplikenow answered 5 years ago I have the same issue. ....started today. and I looked at my fuse box and its just like inkedgorilla stated. it has nothing to do with the power mirrors and the reverse lockout solenoid. all the answers I could find had a completely different fuse box. I have the one that is slanted at a 40 degree angle not the one with tons of fuses in it. I looked at the website that everyone is talking about that shows the jumpers verticalvisions.com and it does not relate to the 2007 or 2008 dodge rams so I don't know what type of vehicle they are working on but it isn't this one. any help in this matter would be much appreciated and if anyone could tell me where the fuel pump relay is located that would help tremendously because it is not under the hood with the other fuses and it isn't in the driver side under the dash either 57 people found this helpful. Shadow56 answered 5 years ago Okay, there are apparently differences between fuse boxes (The TiPM box), dependent upon model year of the Dodge Truck. My 1500 series hemi is a 2011 model. I still think this problem exists for a lot of Dodge trucks, ranging in model year from 2007 up to around 2012 The fuel pump relay that everyone is looking for is not easily accessible. It is 'hidden' on the bottom of the circuit board that holds your standard fuses. To see it, you would have to take the fuse box apart. Seeing it won't help as it is not a replaceable item anyway. Dodge does not sell this soldered-on relay. Dodge just wants to sell you an entire new TIPM box at around $1,500 bucks. The problem is a lack of electrical power to your fuel pump (which is located inside the fuel tank). You need to get power to that pump. The bad relay normally provides a 20 amp power source to the pump. Since you can't fix/replay the relay, you have to bypass it. On my 2011 model, the bypass fix was to jumper between M7 and M25. Your fuse box, depending on model year, may be different. Doesn't matter. Somewhere in your fuse box is a fuse that provides 12 volts to an accessory power port in your cab. Find that fuse! Next, find the fuse that provides power to your fuel pump. Mine is labeled M25. Yours may be different. Doesn't matter, just find it. Now... you need to build a small jumper cable to connect your accessory power port fuse to your fuel pump fuse. To do this, you'll have to make a small wiring harness. To build the harness, you'll need some automotive wire (I think it was 14 gauge). Probably not more than 8-12 inches, depending on where your two fuses are located relative to each other. You'll also two "add-a- line" fuse connectors. You can buy these at any automotive parts store. The "add-a-line" connectors are small connectors that allow you to connect two fuses (side by side) into the same fuse port in your fuse box. Use the wire to connect two of these "add-a-line" connectors to each other. Now... get yourself four 20 amp automotive fuses. Use the same style that is already in your "accessory power port" fuse position. Use the four 20 amp fuses to fill the "add-a-line" connectors. You'll end up with a short wiring harness that has two 20-amp fuses on each end. The "add-a-line" connector has a standard, single, fuse port connector on its bottom. Unplug the original fuse from the "accessory power port" location and plug in one end of your "add-a-line" harness. Now... remove the original fuse from your "fuel pump" fuse location and plug-in the other end of your "add-a-line" harness. You've just connected 12 volts of power from the "accessory power port" position to your fuel pump. The reason for the "add-a-line" dual fuse arrangement is so that you can continue to provide power to the "accessory power port" in your cab. Now pay attention... this is really important. Some Dodge trucks have two or more "accessory power ports" in the cab. You have to connect to a power port fuse location that is only "on" when the ignition key is turned on . Some power ports stay on all the time, even when the truck isn't running. Don't use one of those! If you do, you're fuel pump will run all the time and quickly drain your batter. Make sure you are connecting to a fuse that provides power to an accessory power port which is only on when the ignition is on. Sorry for the long answer, but it takes a lot to explain the details. In practice, you could build the harness and fix the problem a lot faster than it took me to write this all out. Best luck! 99 people found this helpful. Mark helpful 3,010
Shadow56 answered 5 years ago Just a follow up to my last entry. If you are still having problems locating the fuses of interest and/or aren't sure how to fix this problem, here is another option. Go to your Dodge dealer. Tell them you want them to install a bypass wiring harness to fix your busted relay. Dodge KNOWS about this problem AND they know how to fix it using the bypass I've described. They just don't tell people that because it is much more profitable to sell you a new $1,500 TIPM box (your fuse box) than to make and install this simple work-around. Trust me.. they know how to do it. This problem and the fix I've described has been around for several years. I performed this repair on my truck about a year ago. Last week, one of the "add-a-line" fuses burned out and the truck wouldn't start. I immediately knew what had happened. Popped the hood; replaced the fuse and bingo... truck started right up. Other than that one bad fuse, I've had no problems or side-effects from using the harness I described above. That harness cost me about $12 bucks to make and took about ten minutes to install. Much better deal than the $1,500 TIPM that Dodge wants to sell you. Oh... one other thing. That new TIPM Dodge sells. It has the same failure point as the original. The fuel pump relay will eventually fail on the new one too and you'll need another $1,500 box! The reason for the failures is corrosion. The bottom of the circuit board that holds the relay isn't sealed in the TIPM box. It is basically open and exposed to environmental contaminants (road salt, dirt, etc). That's why it fails. masq24 answered 4 years ago John653, I just wanted to say, your picture explanation was literally a day saver! I have a 2011 ram 5.7, it has been slowly hinting at the issue described. About a month ago, I would occasionally get continuous crank but no start. Eventually it would fire after 2-3 times (figured the pump was finally priming just enough to fire). This morning - no dice. I was late for work and suspected that it was a fuel pump relay, so I had googled that and came across this website. Luckily I had to add-a-fuse kits on hand...in 3 minutes I followed your picture reference, and bingo!! Back up and running. You’re a life saver, thank you!! 10 people found this helpful. Looks like more than a few people benefited from the comments. Glad to hear that. Guru... you can fight with the dealer, but they won't replace the original relay. It is considered a non-repairable part. They will insist on replacing the entire TIPM box. Really sad that Dodge/Jeep/Chrysler has known about this problem for so many years, yet still refuses to address the issue in a satisfactory manner. GuruBSDDF, I would offer that you might want to press the dealer for a refund on that $900 fuel pump. They almost certainly knew it wasn't bad when they replaced it! A simple 12 volt source would have demonstrated if your old pump was working. I'd wager dollars against donut holes that old pump was working when they pulled it out. Two other points on this topic. First, I did have a single fuse blow out of the harness I described in my first response. Replace it and no further problems, so this solution has worked well for over three years now. Second point. I went to a drive-in theater last summer to watch a film. It is one of those theaters where you use the radio in your vehicle to listen to the movie. Forgot about my fuel pump wiring harness work-around. Long story short... I had the key on for about four hours, listening to the movies. When I tried to start my truck.... dead battery. Yep, the fuel pump had been running the entire time and had run the battery down. So, lesson learned.... of you use the "add-a-line" harness to work around this bad fuel pump relay problem.... take a portable radio for drive-in movies! Cheers. 6 people found this helpful. THERE IS NO FUEL PUMP RELAY OR FUEL PUMP FUSE LABELED ON THIS TYPE OF BOX. OK, WHERE IS IT???????? HOW IS IS POWERED??????THE BOX OF INTEREST COMES FROM A 2007 RAM 1500 REGULAR CAB BASE WITH A 6 CYLINDER ENGINE. WHAT IS THE REAL ANSWER????? bhall53 answered 3 years ago I have the slanted TIPM also with the same problems as those in previous inserts. I can't find the relay either. I have found out that the 2007 Ram doesn't have a fuse for the fuel pump, it just uses the relay. I am in the process of getting a wiring diagram for the truck from my brother in law. When I find out what to do I will post on here. Once I find out what wire goes to the fuel pump I can put a switch inside the truck to turn the pump on and off, which will also be a theft protection. I will make a you-tube video also. I have spent hours trying to find an answer for this problem, hope I can help someone else when I finally find an answer. 41 people found this helpful. GuruCNMCX answered 3 years ago Have a 2005 Dodge ram1500 5.7 having issues with it shutting off when running over a manhole cover and restarting itself. The dash board lights start flashing then shuts down. Sometimes will not start up have to try 3-4 times. Wanting to know if the jumper wire for the TIPM would work on the 2005. Gunner83 answered 3 years ago No, I never figured which fuse it was to run the bypass but as I tried I actually ended up with more codes. I was afraid of destroying the board ($450) so I narrowed it down and went ahead and replaced the fuel pump ($167) and my problem was solved. What are your symptoms? 5 people found this helpful. Daryn answered 3 years ago I am having same issue. 2008 1500 ram 5.7 bighorn. Slant fuse box . no relays. And no m7 or m25.. All fuses have numbers. 1-45. The fuse to provide power is 38. The list of fuse location has no mention of fuel pump on any fuse.. This is the question.. What fuse is internally wired to run the pump or receive signal back from pump? Gunner83 answered 3 years ago No one has been able to locate a fuse to by pass as the fuel pump relay is internally placed in the board. Try trouble shooting first. ssi1981 answered 3 years ago I think im having the same problem, 2006 1500 4.7L V8..... power everywhere, turns over fine just won't crank up.... spray starter fluid in the tb, cranks and runs about 3-4 seconds then dies again.... can I jump it (is so how, 45° angled fuse box as well) , or do I need to drop the tank and replace the fuel pump??? Im running out of time, SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!! I'm a single father of 3, and have to work this coming weekend, (fri, sat, & sun), my job is an hour away from where I live and have no way to get there if I don't get it running & no one I can get a ride from...... I don't have the time or money to just start replacing parts hoping for the best..... I will loose my job if I'm not there this weekend!!! Gunner83 answered 3 years ago I never found a solution for a jump to bypass the internal relay. Separate the fuel line to see if when you start the truck your fuel pump is actually pumping fuel. My fuel pump made a click noise when I turned the key. No fuel going to the engine after watching the fuel line. Sounds like you have similar issues - good luck. 6 people found this helpful. taildragger51 answered 3 years ago My son-in-law has a 2007 Dodge Ram pickup. He has the same problem it won't start. We went and got schematics or diagrams to cover where wire should go and we got a kit for an external fuel pump relay. There is also a video for a slightly different Dodge Ram that explains how to hook up the external kit. I will attach photos and the link for the video at the end of this message and take it from there and again this is for the 2007 Dodge Ram 1500. Turns out though that that didn't fix our problem it looks like it is the fuel pump so we're in the process of replacing the fuel pump. GuruN9L5V answered 3 years ago Hey Taildragger, there is another relay “line” showing as “Fuel Pump Control Output” on The TIPM Diagram but on a different plug. It’s plug C10 Pin 18. Would I have to connect that to 12 volt key on power also? GuruZTHZ1 answered 3 years ago Good day, I have a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500, HEMI 5.7, quad cab. Recently experienced the same issue as many with the vehicle not starting due to the fuel pump not powering up. However, in my situation, about 1 year ago, I had a new fuel pump installed. The unit was some what defective in respect to the fact that the gas gauge was not working and then left me stranded. As many have mentioned, the 2007 does not have a typical relay and to the best of my knowledge, there is not way to bypass and run a direct wire between fuses. So, I installed a new pump 3 days ago. Car ran well, then last night same thing, no gas gauge response on dash and for that matter no power to fuel pump. As of this morning, I went back to the vehicle double checked the connection at the pump as well as messed with the 45 degree TIPM box, (Just for kicks). Nothing, so, I decided to follow the wiring harness that runs from the fuel pump connection plug along the frame rail. Drives side. I discovered a large pin connection with several wires. I attempted to disconnect the grey colored slide that allows the pins to seperate. During this attempt, note that I left the key in the ON POSITION. The purpose was so that if the pump engaged, I would here it. I noticed a "tone" inside the cab as I wiggled the wires and pin connection. Note, that the connector is still plugged in. After looking back at the gauges, the fuel gauge was on, I then started the vehicle and all went well. So, what I believe is occurring for some of us, is that the TPIM box is probably fine, the fuel pumps are probably fine, its the connection that get dirty/corroded over time. I plan on cleaning the connection and separating the connector. I do want to note that as I was attempting all of this and prior to the vehicle starting, I had several occurrences just as mentioned by others where the "red lightening bolt" would appear on the dash. I corrected the check engine light and this light by disconnection the negative battery cable for about seconds. 6 people found this helpful. Mark helpful 220

Guru2B338 answered 2 years ago I have a 2011 Ram 1500 with a 4.7L Hemi that had this issue as well. What I found was a break in the hot wire to the fuel pump that runs from the fuse box down to the pin connector behind the inner wheel well on the driver side. The wire in question is a purple wire with an orange stripe. I believe it is caused by the hard bends and twists that dodge put in the harness by the firewall.
