Very friendly and sociable, they were confiscated in OR with their pups from an irresponsible breeder, and spent the last 6 months in the shelter waiting for trial. Now up for adoption, they need Wolfdog-experienced home, Escape-proof enclosure, and good exercise daily. We would like Ana to be adopted with her mate Zuni as they are very bonded. Taliyah - born approx. February 2008 [Teelo's sister], is totally a lap monkey. She is exhuberent and loving and wants to be close as possible. Doesn't have a mean bone in her body, loves everybody - men included. She is a very big girl and will need large, very secure containment with 7-8' fencing, and lots of exercise. She will not be placed with cats or small children because she is very energetic with puppy energy, and too big for a small child. She walks well on leash too! Presently in Foster in OR. Dancer - URGENT in Shelter - Approximately 7-8 yrs old, this pretty but very shy girl was picked up as a stray in Reno. When no one claimed her, she was scheduled to be euthanized. Luckily, Truckee Humane Society [CA]came along and picked her up. She tested positive for Heartworm and Lyme, but not showing symptoms and is being treated. She is spayed. Dancer is good with other dogs and shows no aggression to the shelter cats. Dancer needs someone patient and loving, and another canine companion to help her learn to trust again. Escape-proof enclosure is a must, with lots of love and exercise. She walks well on leash and is sweet and calm. She will be absolutely beautiful with a nice bath and brushing! She looks to be a Malamute/Samoyed or Golden mix [not a Wolfdog]. Contact Pamela Jo at

Alex  - This ol' boy has had a bout with cancer and much gratitude should go to his Foster Mom who pulled him from a literal dump and a very neglected environment. Foster Mom, Emmy, has paid for surgery for Alex and he is recouperating nicely. He is looking for a caring home that will allow him to spend the rest of his days with lots of love and attention. Alex is mostly White German Shepherd.

Kovu - With wonderful dark markings, Kovu is a pretty German Shepherd/Husky. He is about 1 1/2 yrs old, walks well on leash and loves to ride in the car. Kovu can jump straight up in the air over a 6' fence so will need escape-proof containment. He definitely needs a sweet female companion to play with and is a fun-loving boy who plays for hours. Kovu needs to be adopted to someone who lives in a quite country setting as he would not be happy in a close and noisy neighborhood. Best with dogs his own size. He's a little shy at first, but warms up quickly and is affectionate. He will be neutered before adoption. Contact Kim in OR at

Moose - This magnificent pure Malamute is 4 yrs old, neutered, and UTD on all shots. He thinks he is a puppy and is very energetic. Moose is the unfortunate victim of being in a household with crawling infants, food, and a busy mom who couldn't keep an eye on everybody at the same time. Food fell on the floor, and an infant wound up being bitten. Moose is good natured and had been around children for the past year without incident. He has some training and is well behaved, housetrained, and walks off leash with you. We would like to place Moose in a calm environment that can give him lots of exercise and attention. Presently in the Lake Tahoe area. Contact Pamela Jo at

How much does a wolfdog puppy cost?

How much is a wolf dog? A wolf dog puppy typically costs between $1,000 and $3,000. Older dogs may cost considerably less, and adoption from a rescue organization or private individual seeking to rehome their dog is often an affordable choice. Maintenance costs can run into the thousands.

Can I buy a wolf puppy?

Sadly, there is no federal law regarding the ownership of a wolf or wolfdog. Laws are left to be determined by the individual states. It is illegal to keep them in Connecticut, Hawaii, Idaho, Maryland and several other states. In Alaska, it is illegal unless your wolf has been grandfathered in.

How do you get a wolf dog?

A wolf dog is any canine with both domestic dog and wolf in its recent genetic ancestry and can result from any of the following parent combinations: a pure wolf and a pure domestic dog, a pure wolf and a wolf dog, two wolf dogs, or a wolf dog and a pure dog.

Can wolfdogs be good pets?

Advocates of wolfdogs say they can be wonderful pets, while opponents argue that they're unpredictable, untrainable, and inherently dangerous. They're permitted in some places, forbidden in others and are showing up on breed ban lists, along with Pits and other so-called “dangerous breeds.”
