The Packers and Chiefs will face off in one of the more interesting battles of the preseason on Thursday, though it remains to be seen how much their starting quarterbacks will be on the field. Patrick Mahomes is coming off a preseason matchup vs. the Commanders in which he completed 12 of 19 passes for 162 yards and two scores. That should be all the tune-up he needs, though Chiefs coach Andy Reid could potentially let him play another series before taking him out. Conversely, Aaron Rodgers has yet to take an offensive snap in the preseason. Whether Packers coach Matt LaFleur will follow Reid's lead and have Rodgers available to play remains to be seen. Either way, several other players should garner plenty of attention for how they play, including rookie receivers Skyy Moore (Chiefs) and Romeo Doubs (Green Bay), as well as Jordan Love for Green Bay. NFC Championship Game hopefuls kick off their preseason slate on Friday night, and it'll be a battle of familiar foes and new ones. Niners coach Kyle Shanahan and Packers boss Matt LaFleur are long-time friends who have turned into adversaries on the field. While the two head coaches have traded wins and losses throughout the years, their relationship remains strong. There is, though, a matter of passers on either sideline. While there's still some speculation over how much Aaron Rodgers will play (if at all) on Friday night, the reigning MVP will be staring down the potential future on the other sideline in Trey Lance. Lance is entering the season as the team's starting quarterback despite some questions regarding Jimmy Garoppolo's standing with the team.
