Thanks to imaginer012 for this idea!

Should Myra have been with Hank, Horace, stayed single/working in the saloon, or ended up with someone else in town?  What do you think?  Send in your thoughts!  Feel free to send me several messages and I can piece them together or you can even submit a text post.  Whatever works!

(I think this is the format I’ll do… pose the question and then put my thoughts below that you can comment on or add to.)

I have always wanted Hank and Myra to be together.  I just made a gifset for episode 1x08 (the one where Myra thinks she’s pregnant and Horace proposes and then she has to have surgery) and Hank says: “Only a fool falls in love with a whore.”  I hate to see Hank emotional and upset like that.  He’s normally portrayed as this tough, asshole of guy but Myra was routinely the one who brought out a different side to him.  They understood each other and loved each other.  Maybe it wasn’t in the typical way, but Hank fully admitted it to basically everyone in town with that outburst.  It was tough for him to let her go and marry Horace but he did because he loved her and knew it was what she wanted.  She wanted to get married and have a family and have that “normal” life which wasn’t something she’d ever get from Hank.

Throughout her marriage to Horace, Hank was there for her and that close bond continued.  I think Myra was really Hank’s closest friend.  Of course he was close to Jake, but they didn’t have that sort of relationship where they could talk about personal things.  We never saw what happened behind closed doors with Hank and Myra but I imagine it was more than just sex.  It had to have been for him to fall in love with her.  Hank’s not such a happy person either and I think Myra was the only one to ever really bring him happiness (aside from Zach’s mother probably because he spoke very highly of her).  Maybe he had other close relationships with the women in the saloon, I don’t know.  I’m sure he slept with all of them (my god I’m sure he had a ton of diseases haha) but Myra was always number one.

I think there was always some jealousy from Horace as well when she and Hank would speak or just be around each other that added tension in their marriage.  Horace became very possessive and controlling of Myra too which led to their divorce.  I think it was good for Myra to move away with Samantha even though that was very tough on Horace and made for an emotional storyline when Horace tried to commit suicide.  I feel like Horace was way too boring for her as well.  I mean, he’s generally a nice guy and made for a decent husband, but she was used to the rowdy life of the saloon.  For her to end up with a goofy telegraph operator just never seemed like a good fit.  Maybe she was too much woman for him too, who knows.

When she came back though, I was really hoping that the show would revisit Hank and Myra and actually give them a chance.  I really believe that Hank would have settled down for her and for Samantha and they could have made a really beautiful, unconventional family.  Anyway, I’m completely team Hank but that should come as no surprise because he’s my clear favorite of all the guys on the show.

I honestly don’t know who else she could have ended up with on the show.  Her and the Reverend would have been interesting or even Matthew.  I don’t see her and Jake being a good match.  Preston?  I’m kind of attached to the idea that he’s a closest homosexual though now haha.  Umm… there’s kind of slim pickings which sucks.  Hank and Myra had the most connection and chemistry in my opinion so he’s my pick. (:
