2005 ford explorer sport trac starter location

The starter is mounted to the flywheel housing, on the right side of the engine, above the oil pan on the 2004 Ford Explorer. If You want to remove the starter then You will need to start by opening the hood and locking it in place. Then remove the black, negative, cable from the battery to stop electricity from flowing. Now slide under the truck and find the starter. Remove the wires coming from the side and then remove the 4 bolts that are holding the housing in place. Be cautious the bolts holding the wires are known to break, so be gentle. Once the bolts are gone the starter will slide right out. To put a new one in just do the above in reverse, starting with the mounting bolts.

The starter can be found under the engine block, near the transmission.

The starter is on the bottom of the engine driver side. It is below and toward the rear from where the Alternator is located.

Starters are usually low and to the rear of the engine. The nose is over the flywheel which is between the engine and transmission. Follow the positive cable from the battery. It ends at the starter.
