Best games for kinect xbox 360

Due to the success of the Nintendo Wii and its motion controls, Microsoft decided to capitalize on the hype for that system by introducing a peripheral for the Xbox 360 and Xbox One titled the Kinect. It was a camera that tracked body movements allowing for entire games to be controlled by the players themselves.

Unfortunately, the Kinect was far from a success with a majority of the games for it being rushed cash-grabs that barely functioned. This left the Kinect with a poor reputation but there are actually several games for the peripheral that showed off the lost potential for it.

Kinectimals (2010)

One of the launch titles for the Kinect, Kinectimals is nothing deep or even all that challenging. The player gets to raise and connect with an animal of their choice while exploring a strange island. With the Kinect, the Kinectimals can be played with, fed, pet, and more.

Kinectimals is from the same developers as Jurassic World Evolution 2 and its roster of powerful dinosaurs. In a way, it's a simplified version of Tamagotchi that has some very beautiful visuals and adorable pets. Adults can get some joy out of it while young kids will likely be hooked for hours playing with their virtual pet.

Fruit Ninja Kinect (2010)

Fruit Ninja is one of many older mobile games that are still fun to play and that carries over to the Kinect version. Instead of using fingers, the player swipes with their hands as if they are judo-chopping the fruit themselves. The modes get increasingly more difficult forcing the player to move faster.

One of the best things about the Kinect version is that it promotes exercise in a fun method; the fruit being thrown onto the screen goes all over the place so the player has to move. When this is combined with a party of friends and family, it could be argued that Fruit Ninja Kinect is superior to the mobile version.

Kinect Adventures! (2010)

Most Kinects came with a copy of Kinect Adventures! which is a compilation of minigames that show off the Kinect's capabilities. It's nothing all that special but all of the minigames work with the Kinect with the characters matching the player's movements rather well.

20,000 Leaks, Reflex Ridge, River Rush, Rally Ball, and Space Pop all make for a fun experience, even if it's a rather short one. It's decent fun for the whole family that can get the hearts pumping and maybe some sweat dripping. However, games like Mario Party: Superstars provide far superior minigames.

Star Wars Kinect (2012)

Galactic Dance Off gameplay with Princess Leia in Star Wars Kinect

In many ways, Star Wars Kinect is a mess with the story mode being a simple slasher, and Rancor Rampage is actually a twisted mode with the player murdering hundreds of innocent NPCs. Even the pod-racing mode is a simplified version of the Star Wars sport.

However, Star Wars Kinect can be a very fun experience as long as more than one player is involved. The story becomes far more chaotic and the infamous Galactic Dance-Off is ridiculous but in the best ways possible. Dancing to Star Wars covers of pop songs is hilarious with friends, making Star Wars Kinect a game that can be a lot of fun in the right conditions.

Kinect: Disneyland Adventures (2011)

Going to Disneyland is not only expensive but it's also a huge hassle if someone lives somewhere thousands of miles away. Kinect: Disneyland Adventures is the solution for kids who really want to go to Disneyland, creating a fantasized simulation of the famous park.

Disneyland is replicated surprisingly well with many locations in the park but rather than just wandering the park, the player can meet famous Disney characters such as the many Disney princesses and perform quests for them. This can earn them a chance to go on famous rides, making Kinect: Disneyland Adventures one of the more in-depth Kinect games.

Kinect Sports (2010)

It is very clear that Kinect Sports was heavily inspired by Wii Sports, one of the highest-selling games for the Nintendo Wii. It is a launch title for the Kinect that is a compilation of sports minigames including soccer, volleyball, bowling, tennis, track-and-field, and boxing.

Much like its Nintendo counterpart, it's a fine game on its own, and the Kinect captures the player's movement fine enough. It's with two or more players that Kinect Sports becomes an addictive experience that will burn some calories. Once again, the only problem is how small the game actually is.

Kinect Sports: Season Two (2011)

A perfect solution to a Kinect party trying to enjoy the games is to have both Kinect Sports games. Kinect Sports: Season Two offers six more minigames that follow the same formula as the first game. Tennis, Golf, American Football, Baseball, Skiing, and Darts are all available for players to have fun with.

Once again, compared to the Nintendo counterpart, Kinect Sports: Season Two does what Wii Sports: Resort did and simply provided an even better experience that can be a companion piece to the first game.

The Gunstringer (2011)

Some of the Kinect's most infamously poor titles are when it tried to work with action games such as shooters and fighting games. The Gunstringer is one of the few examples where it worked thanks to using simple but effective ways to control the titular hero with just two hands.

Aiming and shooting are done in a satisfying way, hovering one hand over enemies allowing the Gunstringer to automatically target and shoot the enemies. Combined with the wacky humor and visuals, The Gunstringer is a surprise gem that the whole family can enjoy.

Dance Central (2010)

Sometimes putting in the effort to do an exercising game can feel like a chore. Plenty of gamers don't find it fun at all and that's where Dance Central excels. It comes off as just a dancing game with a plethora of catchy songs to get the player moving but it is the perfect workout.

Some songs will just be fun and simple while others will push people to their limits trying to get a perfect score with more than likely some sweat pouring down their face by the end of it. The Kinect picks up the player's moves perfectly and since it is developed by the same team as Guitar Hero, there is a lot of visual appeal to the user interface in both the menus and gameplay.

Dance Central 3 (2012)

Flawless gameplay in Dance Central 3

Sometimes there is the more humble approach of less is more but Dance Central 3 shows that more can definitely be more. More characters, more songs, more dance moves, and more of what made the first Dance Central so great to play. There is even a story mode of all things in this sequel.

The visuals continued to get better as the series went on, the entire trilogy features many great songs that will keep the player coming back but also become engrained in their brains for days afterward. With even more involved gameplay, Dance Central 3 is also an even better workout method.
