Beautifully Designed 12-string Acoustic from D'Angelico

In an effort to bring 12-string acoustic guitar players both incredible comfort as well as wonderful tone, D'Angelico introduces their first 12-string acoustic-electric, the Premier Fulton LS. This grand auditorium acoustic features a smaller, 16-inch-wide all-mahogany body for stellar tone that delivers robust bass and shiny high end. The gorgeous mahogany neck with torrefied merbau fingerboard offers wonderful playability and response, and when you are ready to plug in, a D'Angelico MG-30 preamp and tuner kicks out rich, amplified acoustic tone. If you've been searching for that classic, chimey 12-string sound, the D'Angelico Premier Fulton LS delivers!

A neck made to play

The mahogany neck on the Premier Fulton LS has been cut to a player-friendly slim "C" shape. The C-shape profile is the most popular profile for guitar necks the world over — for good reason. Its contours are beautifully matched to the natural curvature of your palm, making chording and lead playing easier. In addition, this smooth neck also features 20 medium jumbo frets along the merbau fingerboard that add to the comfort and ease of forming chords and laying down lead lines. And with the deep cutaway, you get easy access to higher notes and creative chordings. C-profile necks are a favorite among guitarists here at Sweetwater!

D angelico Premier Fulton LS review

The D’Angelico legacy

After mastering his craft during an 18-year apprenticeship, luthier John D’Angelico opened his own shop in Manhattan’s Little Italy in 1932. Catering to New York’s many jazz musicians over the ensuing three decades, D’Angelico and a single apprentice became New York’s foremost stringed instrument builders, creating over one thousand treasured archtop guitars until John’s death in 1964. After his passing, D’Angelico’s legacy lived on only through his rare, legendary instruments. After decades, the D’Angelico brand has resurfaced, bringing back the playability and attention to detail of the company’s New York roots. Today, Sweetwater is delighted to offer this fine line of distinguished instruments. D’Angelico uses state-of-the-art manufacturing processes and the finest available materials to create playable works of art for today’s guitarist. From a modest shop in Little Italy to the world stage, D’Angelico’s dedication to quality craftsmanship ensures that this brand won’t be going dormant again any time soon.

I bought the D'Angelico Premier Fulton LS 12-string Acoustic-electric Guitar - Mahogany Satin, because I thought it would be fun to add a 12 string without dropping a ton of cash. Wow, thanks to Sweetwater, setup was spot on, ready to play right out of the box! Quality craftmanship and overall value, it looks, sounds, and plays like a much more expensive guitar. The tuner works great and is a nice built in feature(it does silence the output jack while tuning). Action is great, holds it's tuning well. Bought the matching hard case for it, fits like a glove, nice padding, well built. I am very pleased with my purchase. My son does a solo acoustic act at bars and restaurants 3-4 times a week. He was so impressed with it, we just ordered a second one for him.
What a lovely sounding instrument with and without the amplifier. Music director at church was so happy with me bringing it to Christmas Eve service! Stays in tune surprisingly well. The location of the electronic adjustments is a tad awkward. Great guitar! I'm very happy with it and my six string is getting jealous!
I am honestly blown away by the sound, resonance playability, electronics and looks this guitar has. I have played acoustics that cost twice as much and are not as nice.
I am fastly becoming a D'angelico fan (I have a Bedford Premier that I would easily say the dame about).

Also, a shout out to Sweetwater. You guys are the best!

I have played it for a couple of weeks now and have been impressed by the incredible tone and beautiful appearance it has. I would recommend it for those who are in a budget or are interested in getting their first 12-string.
I'm 69 and have been playing since I was 14 with a few years hiatus recently. I haven't played a 12 string in 40 years. Back then unless you could afford top of the line the ones I found sounded great but were hard to play, and that was for someone with rock hard fingers. So, imagine me purchasing this guitar with the soft fingers of a twelve year old and wondering if I would be able to play it. This plays almost as easily as my Ovation six string! And the sound is Amazing. The strings that came with it have a wonderful bass to treble roll but seem to need tuning often. I am hoping this is only the strings as I have another set and am just putting off changing them. I may update this review then. That said, if you are in the market for a really playable 12 string at a super affordable price this axe is for you.
