Really Hot Air Balloons is a family owned business that is located Zachary, LA just north of Baton Rouge.

Our pilot, Shawn Krause has been flying hot air balloons since the early 90s. This has been a long loved sport/hobby for him and his family through the years.

We offer private flights over the Zachary and close surrounding areas. Flights take place just at/after sunrise, followed by a champagne celebration.

We also offer tethered rides for birthday parties or events. This is where the balloon is tied off and goes up about 40-50 feet in the air and comes back down. The best time of day to book this is late afternoon/evening.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Weather

Most people don't realize Hot air Ballooning is all at the mercy of the weather. It is said to be a once in lifetime experience but with that there are risk and limitations that are taken into consideration.

For the best experience we prefer for the ground winds to be below 6mph and no rain or fast winds to be in the immediate forecast. In some cases balloons can fly in higher winds, but we prefer more favorable conditions to be able to provide the best possible experience. Balloons are also unable to fly when there is fog present. When fog is present the balloons are unable to see what is going on around them and it is hard for them to be seen.

With these restrictions flights can be canceled, but we try our best to get you rescheduled as soon as possible.

Day of The Flight

Typically we meet 30 minutes before sunrise, check weather conditions and determine our launch site and head out.

A big question we get all the time is, What should we wear?

Dress for the current weather; comfortably. Wear tennis shoes if possible or shoes for outdoor activities.

Once at the launch site, while the crew is setting up you will receive a flight briefing with your pilot. You will also have the options to sit back to watch and enjoy or you can join in and help inflating the balloon.

Flights last about an hour long, sometimes a bit shorter, sometimes a bit longer. Being at the mercy of the wind and weather, your pilot can roughly navigate where they want to go, but sometimes mother nature has other plans. Safety for passengers, pilot and equipment is our main priority, so sometimes if a safe landing opportunity presents itself, we will take it.

Once we have landed we will pack up and have a small celebratory ceremony. We will offer you a glass of champagne and you will be inducted into the family of ballooning.

For further information a details give us a call or send us a message!

Hope to hear from you soon!!
