How do I turn off TalkBack on Samsung?

TalkBack (or Voice Assistant) is an accessibility feature that provides spoken feedback to help low-vision users navigate their Samsung phone or tablet. Follow the guide below to see how to enable or disable TalkBack and learn about some of its features.

Enable or Disable TalkBack Click to Expand

To enable or disable TalkBack, you either go through Settings or use the Volume Keys shortcut. Follow the steps below to see how you can enable or disable TalkBack, and how to setup the shortcut.

1 Go to Settings

2 Select Accessibility

3 Tap into TalkBack

4 Toggle TalkBack On or Off

You can also enable or disable TalkBack via the Volume Keys shortcut. Press down on both Volume Keys for a few seconds and you will be notified when TalkBack is enabled or disabled. 

To ensure the shortcut is enabled follow the steps above (Settings > Accessibility > TalkBack) and toggle TalkBack shortcut On or Off in TalkBack.

Note: When TalkBack is enabled, a single tap will highlight an item for spoken feedback, two taps will action the highlighted item, and you'll need to drag two fingers to scroll.

Following the steps above (Go to Settings > Accessibility > TalkBack), you will be able to access TalkBack settings and adjust the language, speech rate and pitch, and even complete tutorials. Follow the steps below to see some of the TalkBack settings and features.

Changing the preferred language

1 Go to TalkBack Settings and then select Text-to-speech settings

2 Tap into Language and select your preferred language

Changing the speech rate and pitch

1 Go to Text-to-speech settings in TalkBack settings, and adjust the Speech rate and Pitch to your liking.

Accessing TalkBack tutorials

1 Go to Tutorial and help in TalkBack settings

2 Tap into Tutorial and select the tutorial you'd like to complete
