Resident Evil 4 Remake: 13 Awesome Things We Noticed While Playing

After playing through the original Resident Evil 4 dozens of times on everything from GameCube to Meta Quest 2 VR, Brian Altano got to go hands-on with the first 45 minutes of Capcom's highly anticipated next-gen remake of this modern classic of survival-horror action. Is it noticeably scarier? Will it be darker than the original? Does it still have funny moments? Did they make any changes? Did the chainsaw guy get new abilities? The answer is yes, but there's so much more to talk about. Even though Resident Evil 4 Remake's announcement might have been spoiled by leaks, the first trailer got us plenty excited, and seeing uncut gameplay footage of it in action has us extremely excited. Between the newer first-person games, Resident Evil 7 Biohazard and Resident Evil 8 Village, and the classic third-person Resident Evil 2 Remake and Resident Evil 3 Remake, Capcom has clearly been reaching for the moon with the RE Engine. RE4 is one of the best horror games of all time, so we cannot wait for its release date - March 24th, 2023 when it comes out for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.

Description

A young girl in Castaway Cove asked you to create a candle cutter in your cauldron and show it to her.

Availability

This errand is available after defeating Al-Khemi in Castaway Cove.

Guide

Talk to the small girl with pink bikini nearby the first bridge of the village. She wants you to make a candle cutter, but you'll need several ingredients first.

The first ingredient is easy to get: a Flint Dagger, which can be bought from the Cawtermaster in Al Mamoon. The second ingredient, an Emberstone, can be gotten from Mohawk enemies on Teeheeti, although it can also be gotten from Sunshine enemies as a rare drop (or by stealing). Craft the candle cutter and bring it to the girl to complete the errand.

Please tell me there aren't many (or any) more quests that require you to farm rare drops? D:

I'm half way through the game, haven't encountered another errand like that yet, mostly just running around searching ! for quest items.

Edit: Actually i lied, there's another quest like that, but the drop rate isn't as bad.

"But just when everyone had let their guard down, a vast number of AIDA tentacles have appeared and pierced Atoli's body...."

I just got an Emberstone from catching a Sunshine guy on the map. The group was a Sunshine and a Turbandit. Took me a while also. Good luck.

If you look in your Telling Stone under the Creature Compendium, it says what each creature drops.

The crohawks on the island right after you leave castaway cove drop them pretty often

I've killed over 40 of those Sunshines and all ive gotten thus far is a single White Bread

If you're THAT unlucky, just wait a bit until you get access to the 3-ticket rewards. You can get a reward which increases enemy item drop rate. It worked wonders when I was trying to farm for Starstones.

How do you make a candle cutter in Ni no Kuni?

Emberstones are generally found from slaying monsters around Shimmering Sands. The Flint Dagger is sold in Al-Mamoon. Once you have the ingredients, use the Mix and Match option in the Alchemy menu with the two items and create the Candle Cutter.

How do you get to Yule in Ni no Kuni?

To open the way to the Glittering Grotto, just talk to the village chief. After you find him, spend a night at the Yule inn (for 240 Guilders). Speak to the elder again for a costume change (winter clothing). All entrances to the town will now be open, and the dungeon can be visited.

Is sunshine a good familiar?

Sunshine is found in the Shimmering Sands area and metamorphoses into Grandsun, before metamorphosing into one of its final forms, Wayward Sun or Godsun. Sunshine has one of the worst stat make-ups of all the familiars in the game, so definitely give this one a miss.
