My Hero Academia season 6 duration explained

On September 24th, the My Hero Academia official Japanese website confirmed that season 6 of the anime series will run over two consecutive cours. The website has since revealed that the new season will consist of 25 total episodes.

A cour is the name given to a slate of seasonal TV anime, i.e., the broadcast windows that run from January – March, April – June, July – September and October – December, each year.

The official Japanese website has just updated the Blu-Ray DVD listings for My Hero Academia season 6, which is set to release a total of 25 episodes across four volumes.

This means that My Hero Academia season 6 will consist of 25 episodes in total, to be broadcast each week over a six-month period.

Seasons 2, 3, 4 and 5 of My Hero Academia have all released a total of 25 episodes using the same consecutive cour format. Assuming that Studio Bones will be looking to maintain this consistency, fans can expect My Hero Academia season 6 to have a total of 25 episodes.

Interestingly, popular social media leaker SugoiLITE had already confirmed this information prior to the official announcement. The page stated on Twitter that “TV Anime “My Hero Academia Season 6” – Broadcast in 02 Consecutive Cours with total 25 episodes (Cour 1: 13 episodes & Cour 2: 12 episodes).”

Overall, My Hero Academia season 6 part 1 is expected to release 13 episodes between October and December 2022, with part 2 of 12 total episodes being broadcast between January and March 2023.

“Finally, the sixth season of My Hero Academia is about to begin! The bonds and relationships that have been built up through the 5th season will collide with each other! To be honest, it’s heavy! LOL! That’s why I give it my all and challenge myself so much that I can’t forget every time! Perhaps it is not only me, but all the other cast members and staff members as well! For the 6th season of Heroaca, I want you all to Plus Ultra more than ever… and… and…Let’s get through it together!” – Daiki Yamashita (Deku), via heroaca.com.

My Hero Academia remains one of Crunchyroll’s top shows

The Chief Content Officer of Crunchyroll, Asa Suehira recently revealed in an interview with Japan’s Animation Business outlet how My Hero Academia remains one of the top shows for the anime streaming platform.

He shared how “An increasing number of anime fans want to see anime in an environment where they can share the joy of watching it with others, rather than watching it at home.”

“On a global scale, “Demon Slayer”, “Jujutsu Kaisen”, and “My Hero Academia” are popular. Boys’ action works are popular in all regions. Besides distribution, “Jujutsu Kaisen” and “Oni no Kaisen” have been very successful when they were made into movies. “Otherworldly” [Isekai] has been popular recently, and in North America, romantic comedies for men are becoming very popular. We communicate with our clients about such signs, and ask them if such genres will be necessary in the future, which may be a big difference between us and other companies.” – Asa Suehira, via Animation Business.

He would also add that “Crunchyroll’s strength lies in the fact that we do not just enjoy watching anime, but also think about how we can share the same experience with our users through our works.”
