How to Get Back Your Deleted Emails on Gmail

Have you ever deleted an important email by mistake? What can you do when this happens? Here are my step-by-step instructions with videos so you can learn how to recover permanently lost emails on your Gmail account.

On the far left of the screen of your Gmail account you will see a number of options.

These options are:

  • Inbox
  • Buzzed

  • Circles
  • Personal
  • Travel
  • 6 More (with a drop down arrow to the right of it.)

Quick Recovery

I am sure you are delighted that you were able to recover the email you deleted by mistake. But did you notice something when you followed this process? What about the emails you deleted on purpose? They are also in the Trash box.

This is fine if you have your own laptop or computer and you are the only one who has access to it. What if you share one at home or even in the office at work? Okay, I know you probably think that your email account can not be used by other people because you have your own password. Wrong! Unfortunately, it is all too easy for someone to guess your password if they know you.

Do You Want to Take That Chance?

Just a word of warning as you can see from the above instructions anyone can retrieve emails that you have deleted by going to the Trash box. What to do if you have personal or sensitive emails you want to delete that can not be retrieved by other people. Make sure when you do delete them that you go directly to the Trash Box and click on those emails and press the ‘Delete Forever’ button too.

How to Get Back Permanently Deleted Emails

So as you can see from the above article it is an easy process to recover any emails that you deleted by mistake. The other options which I listed above are also well worth exploring too. And do not forget about the other aspect of the deleted emails option.

If you have a sensitive email on your work computer or a very personal one on your shared laptop at home then make sure you use the delete forever button in the Trash box. This will ensure that you have deleted them completely.

Hello Debbie sorry to hear that. If you only deleted your Gmail account and not the remainder of your Google account then there is an easy solution. Click this Google Help section here http://support.google.com/accounts/bin/answer.py?h...

and follow the simple instructions. Basically you can recover your deleted Gmail account if you still have a Google account.

If however you deleted your whole Google account then there is no way you can recover any of it.

Good luck and let me know how you got on

Very useful for anyone that is new to Gmail. This feature is useful, but you have to remember to do the full delete if it is something you want to be completely removed from your account.

SOCIALLY SHARED, up and useful.

Very nice work friend. You can try archiving your mail instead of deleting them. So that you can refer them in future if you want

Correction: MOST providers will let you recover deleted emails for some period of time. Some (the one I sell, for example) can let you recover even when they are gone from Trash.
