How to tame a raptor in ARK mobile

Raptors are one of the most iconic Dinosaurs there are, they’re deadly, fast and very smart. Add to that fact that you can ride them in Ark: Survivor Evolved and it’s no wonder that almost every new player is scrambling to tame one as fast as they can. Before you can tame one you’ll have a bunch of materials to collect and then you’ll have to find the raptor. We’ve documented our Raptor taming experience, which should help prepare you for when you head out to get yours.

Narcotics/ Narco Berries

The level of raptor you try to tame will have an effect on how much they use in terms of food and Narco, but it’s generally always a good idea to overstock on both. For Raptors lvl 1 – 30 you will need around 20 – 30 Narcotics, or at least 3 times that in Narco Berries. Above level 30 and you can add around 10 more narcotics, but you should probably bring at least 50.

Food

The ideal food for Raptors is of course Prime Meat which will make the taming process go much faster, but since that is in short supply you will probably be primarily using regular raw meat. Depending on the level the amount of meat required will vary a bit, but you should plan on bringing 50 raw meat just to be safe and to account for some spoiling.

Knocking out a Raptor

Raptors are fairly easy animals to knock out. If you want to do it the most efficient way, tranquilizer arrows are the way to go. Two or three tranq arrows should be enough to get the job done on almost any lvl of raptor.

If you’ve got no tranquilizer arrows, you can do it the old fashioned way with a slingshot and/ or punches. Aim for the head for the best effect while constantly back peddling to avoid getting bit.

It’s always a good idea to lure the animal you’re taming to a relatively safe place so that they aren’t attacked or exposed to other players while in that vulnerable state.

The Taming Process

Prime meat will make the process a lot faster, but generally it will take between 0.5 to 1.5 hours to completely tame a raptor (dependent on level as well). Ensure that they are completely stocked on meat and have a torpor level above 50% to avoid them waking up, and to keep the taming process going smoothly.

Taming efficiency is also effected by the food you feed your Raptor as well as whether you use Narco Berries or Narcotic. When possible, always use Narcotics and Prime Meat to increase the taming effectiveness and get those extra levels.

Appearance: You can recognize the raptor by its very large and sharp foot claw, razor-sharp teeth, and its feathers on the back of its head and on its arms.

Wild: If you see or encounter a raptor, grab your bola or run the other way if you want to avoid a fight. Because as soon as this species has spotted you, it attacks you directly. But you don’t have much time in an attack, because the raptors are particularly aggressive and fast. Since he often hunts in small packs of 2 to 4 raptors, it’s best to stay alert; even if you’ve already knocked out an attacker, other raptors in the pack can still attack you. In these attacks, he often uses his large foot claw in leap and slash attacks.

Tamed: Once you have managed to tame him, he is a loyal companion and a popular mount.

How to tame the raptor in ARK

How to hunt the raptor: Since the raptor will attack you immediately if you hit it or get too close, you have to hit it with a bola directly. This is best done when he runs towards you. But don’t underestimate his speed. Once the raptor is immobilized, shoot a tranquilizer dart in its face.

How to tame him: As soon as he is unconscious, you put meat or Kibble in his inventory and feed him with it, usually little meat is enough to tame him quickly. If the raptor threatens to wake up anyway, you can also feed it Narcoberries or Narcotic to keep the stun level up.

Another Method: Due to the Raptor’s lightweight, you can grab it with a larger Pterodactyl and drop it into a cage you built, then tame it there.

How to make the Raptor Saddle

To craft the Raptor Saddle, you need to be level 18 and 9 engram points to unlock the recipe. You now need the following resources to craft:

• 110x Hide
• 65x Fiber
• 20x Wood

Once you have tamed your raptor, it is important to know what it likes to eat. Raptors are carnivores, which of course makes the choice of food easier.

• Simple Kibble:
  • Ingredients: 1x Small Egg, 1x Cooked Meat, 5x Fiber, 5x Mejoberry, 2x Rockarrot, 1x Water
• Kibble (Parasaur Egg):
  • Ingredients: 1x Parasaur Egg, 2x Rockarrot, 1x Cooked Meat, 2x Mejoberry, 3x Fiber, 1x Water
• Raw Mutton:
  • Received by gutting Ovis.
  • Cooking turns it into the Cooked Lamb Chop
• Raw Prime Meat:
  • Gained when gutting larger creatures
  • Cooking turns it into Cooked Prime Meat
• Raw Prime Fish Meat:
  • Obtained from Alpha Mosasaurus, Dunkleosteus, Electrophorus, Leedsichtys, Megalodon, and Sabertooth Salmon
  • Cooking turns it into the Cooked Prime Fish Meat
• Raw Meat:
  • Earned by gutting a creature
  • Cooking turns it into Cooked Meat
• Raw Fish Meat:
  • Received from gutting fish
  • Cooking turns it into Cooked Fish Meat

How to breed the raptor in ARK

This is how you prepare the breeding: If you have a male and female specimen, you build an enclosure that is large enough at best. Put both dinos in the pen and set them to “wander” via the command menu. Alternatively, you can also switch directly to “Pair”, but then there must always be a player nearby, otherwise the pairing will stop due to the rendering.

The breeding interval of a raptor is 18 to 48 hours.

Once it gains juvenile status, it can feed on its own from a feeder. The total maturation time is about 1 day and 13 hours.
