If I were to play Protector with Eyes of Blue and special summon The White Stone of Legend and use Protector with Eyes of Blues 2nd effect and send The White Stone of Legend to the graveyard, would White Stone's effect activate and get a Blue Eyes white Dragon in my hand but at the same time Protectors effect is still going and at the end of the effect it says if I have a blue eyes white dragon in my hand I can special summon it. So to sum this up can I combo both these cards and get a Blue Eyes White dragon on the field in 1 turn?

No, as Protectors effect has resolved before the effect of the White Stone activates.

I tried the exact same thing and thought it was a legal move but my friend gave me the same response ^

Has to resolve immediately.

"Protector with Eyes of Blue" has same rulings as "Graceful Charity" when the latter was activated and drew last three pieces of the "The Forbidden One" monster cards, also the hand was at least five or six cards, with five of them were "The Forbidden One" monster cards. You couldn't able to triggering "Exodia the Forbidden One" effect since "Graceful Charity" was still proceeding and resolving by discarding two cards from your hand at that point.
