The connected USB device is not supported Samsung S21 headphones

You can connect wired headphones via the USB-C port of a Samsung smartphone using USB type-C to 3.5 mm jack adapter.

Show

With this variant it can unfortunately always happen that an error message appears on the display with "The connected USB device is not supported".

This error message is unfortunately due to the following cause:

Special USB adapter required for wired 3.5mm headphones

Unfortunately, Samsung smartphones only work properly with the in-house accessories. So if you use a USB type-C to 3.5 mm jack adapter from a third-party supplier, this will result in the message "The connected USB device is not supported" being displayed.

This can be remedied by using the original USB-C Headset Jack adapter from Samsung. If you connect it to the USB C port of your smartphone, there will be no more errors on the display and you can listen to music over your wired headphones without any problems.

So that you don't have to search for a long time, we have selected the original adapter from USB C to 3.5mm jack:

  • Samsung Type C jack adapter EE-UC10J

Unfortunately there are no uniform standards yet, so third-party accessories often do not work 100%. Therefore we recommend to use original accessories of the manufacturer for smartphone accessories if possible.

I've recently upgraded from an S9 to the S21 Plus. Since there is no longer any headphone jack, I bought an Aux to USB-C adapter in order to play music through my car audio system however I am getting the following error message when plugging in the adapter.

"The connected USB device is not supported."

This error pops up immediately after plugging it into the phone's USB-C port without being connected to the car yet. It does not appear when using the adapter with my S9.

Any ideas on what the problem could be?

I have exactly the same issue after also upgrading from the S9+ to S21+.

From what I understand the USB-C adapter must have its own DAC to work with the S21+.

I also read that you may have to turn on on the option "Disable USB audio routing" in Developer options for the adapter to work.

I currently have the adapter below on backorder from Geewiz which they say should work as it has a DAC:

https://www.geewiz.co.za/cables-ada...type-c-charger-with-dac.html#/14-colour-black

Below is a link to an article that lists adapters that should also work:
