Venom 2 release date Netflix Australia

There’s no shortage of superhero flicks going around right now. We’ve been blessed with Black Widow, The Suicide Squad and Marvel’s Shang-Chi and Eternals all in the last few months. It’s a jam-packed plate, that’s for sure, but make sure you leave some room for Venom 2.

Venom was definitely not your typical superhero film and it looks like that will continue in Venom: Let There Be Carnage. Here’s what you need to know about the upcoming sequel.

What’s Venom up to this time?

To jog your memory, the first Venom film was about journalist Eddie Brock who bonded with an alien symbiotic lifeform after he went snooping through a classified bio-engineering facility.

It turns out this symbiote had a name and an attitude and would turn Brock into a monstrous creature that enjoys chewing on people’s heads.

Despite this Brock and Venom form a bond and agree to co-exist at the end of the film.

When we return in Venom 2, Brock is working on getting his journalism career back on track by interviewing serial killer Cletus Kasady. Little does Eddie know that Kasady will become host to another symbiote, Carnage, who will of course go on to wreak… well, carnage.

Venom 2 may have a different director this time around but the ridiculousness looks like it will continue if the trailers are to be believed.

If you’d like an extended preview of what to expect from the film, here’s the first 7 minutes.

Venom is separate from the MCU

While Venom is a Marvel comics character (you may remember the character from Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man 3), this movie is not connected to the MCU – as far as we know.

Sony owns the rights to Spider-Man, who has effectively been on loan to Marvel thanks to a special deal between the studios which gave us Tom Holland’s Spider-Man trilogy.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage is a Sony film, so you won’t be seeing any of the Avengers show up here. But that doesn’t mean we won’t see Tom Holland potentially appear in a Venom crossover in the future.

While you don’t need to see any MCU films prior to watching Venom 2, you should probably see the first Venom which you can find on Netflix Australia.

Who is in the cast?

As for the vast of Venom: Let There Be Carnage it should come as no surprise that Tom Hardy is back as Eddie Brock.

He’s joined by Michelle Williams as Eddie’s ex Anne and Woody Harrelson as Cletus Kasady, aka Carnage.

Naomie Harris, Reid Scott and Stephen Graham also star in the film which is directed by Andy Serkis.

What are the reviews saying?

Venom was a bit of hit and miss with critics the first time around and it still only has a 30% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Can Let There Be Carnage turn things around?

The film was released in the US last month which means reviews for the second Venom have flooded in. At the time of writing it sits at 59% on Rotten Tomatoes which is a fair improvement on the original.

Most critics are calling it more of the same with plenty of fun wild violence to go around, and everyone says the post-credits scene is a must-see. Here are some early reactions.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage is a wild-ass movie of the highest order. Ultraviolent rom com that is delightfully self aware and weird. Tom Hardy gives 200%. Whatever you do, don’t miss the post-credits. #VenomLetThereBeCarnage pic.twitter.com/yoSBH67wMs

When it comes to Venom: Let There Be Carnage, it’s simple.

Did you like the first one? You’ll like this one.

Not like the first one? That’s how you’ll feel here.

It’s the bigger faster version of the first movie which I enjoyed and instantly forgot about.

Venom 2 release date

Like every movie, Venom: Let There Be Carnage saw a number of release date shuffles due to COVID. Venom 2 was most recently scheduled for release in Australian cinemas on September 16, 2021.

That has shifted, however, and the film is now slated for a November 25 release date in Aussie cinemas, with no simultaneous streaming release in the pipeline.

Venom 2 is upon us! The bombastic sequel to the quite bad, but also somehow good Venom film by Sony Pictures is in theaters, reviews are in, and everyone is speculating as to whether Tom Hardy's Spider-Man-adjacent character will ever meet Tom Holland's Peter Parker in an upcoming film.

As of late November, Venom: Let There Be Carnage is available for purchase on Amazon Prime Video in the US – crucially, it's not included for free with a Prime subscription, and has to be purchased as a standalone title. But that doesn't mean we won't see it on sale or streaming elsewhere.

So if you're keen to know if Venom 2 ever comes to Netflix, we've got all the info you need on when you can watch the film, or its 2018 predecessor.

Can I buy or rent Venom 2 anywhere?

Theatrical release aside, you can now watch Venom: Let There Be Carnage on Amazon Prime Video – and only in the US. It's available in Ultra HD resolution, too.

You will need to pay $19.99 (opens in new tab) for the privilege, and it will likely be a similar story elsewhere as the film pops up on other movie marketplaces and online storefronts. That doesn't preclude it being available to stream as part of a subscription elsewhere, though – which we go into in more detail below.

Will Venom 2 stream on Netflix?

Speaking to TechRadar, a Netflix representative tells us that there's no firm plan to stream Venom 2 for the moment, but that it "won't be for a while" even if they do license the film for the service.

And it might not come to every region, either way. The first Venom film never came to Netflix in the US, but it did come to the UK, Australia, Canada, Iceland, and Turkey.

If you're in one of those regions, you may get Venom 2 eventually, though we can't say for certain it'll end up there rather than another TV streaming service. Either way, as the movie is still in theaters, and since it isn't produced by Netflix itself, Venom 2 is not on the streaming platform just yet.

You're likely looking at a wait of a few months before it's available elsewhere. Sony Pictures is big on protecting theatrical exclusivity – that's why the movie isn't available to stream yet in any form.

Still, future movies in the series are far more likely to land on Netflix. Read on for more on why that is.

Will future Venom movies be on Netflix US?

Viewers in the US will be able to watch Venom: Let There Be Carnage on a host of platforms to rent or buy. The film should come to Starz (the premium cable network, as distinct from the roster of 'Star' programming now on Disney Plus) and therefore services like Hulu that come with bolt-on packages for Starz, but probably not Netflix in the near future.

Things should be different for future Venom films: back in April, Sony and Netflix inked a distribution deal to bring the former's slate of 2022-2026 movies – including the Uncharted movie with Tom Holland – exclusively to the streaming service, including in the US.

The deal also encompasses Sony Pictures Entertainment films that feature Marvel characters, like Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’s sequel and future Venom films. Since Venom: Let There Be Carnage released within 2021, it's technically exempt from this agreement, though a Venom 3 or 4 movie would be included should Sony make one.

Can I stream Venom (2018) on Netflix?

The short answer: no. Venom is currently available to rent and buy from a number of places, such as Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video, Google Play, and YouTube. It was never on Netflix in the US, though it was previously on Netflix UK – and could well return in the future.

Where can I watch Venom 2 in Australia?

Venom: Let There Be Carnage is available to stream in Australia now on Google Play and Prime Video and Apple TV and Foxtel and Binge and Prime Video Store.

Is Venom 2 available on Netflix?

Yes, Venom 2 is on Netflix in India. If you live in India and have a Netflix subscription, you can watch Venom 2. However, if you are not in India, you will need a VPN to access Netflix India and watch Venom 2.

Is anywhere streaming Venom 2?

Venom: Let There Be Carnage, an action movie starring Tom Hardy, Woody Harrelson, and Michelle Williams is available to stream now. Watch it on Spectrum TV, STARZ, Prime Video, Vudu, ROW8, Redbox. or Apple TV on your Roku device.

Will Venom 2 be on disney plus?

If you are looking for Venom on Disney Plus, then the answer is no. You will have to recur to other streaming services. The latest Marvel characters movie was not included in the lineup of films to be aired. However, there are plenty of other spooky Halloween-themed titles.
