Jessie Graff walked the red carpet at the Emmy Awards this month. Mostly.

The perennial "American Ninja Warrior" competitor and prominent stunt actress got the blessing of the producer who invited her and she took the opportunity to do a backflip in a dress and heels, a moment that made waves online.

"It felt like being let out of a cage," said the Frederick native in an interview with Stacy Lyn on WBAL News Now.

This summer, she became the first woman to complete the NBC series' first stage. She first heard about the show through roommate Luci Romberg, who went to Japan to compete on the series' inspiration, a Japanese competition called "Sasuke," which aired on G4 as "Ninja Warrior."

"I just knew she went to Japan and had a lot of fun and did something called 'Ninja,'" she said.

One day in Venice, Calif., she stumbled upon an obstacle course for the American series and was told to send in audition tape.

"It looked like the funnest thing in the world," she said. "A year later I sent in a video and I got a call that said you're on next week, so I didn't really prepare for it all, but it was so much fun that I got addicted."

As exciting as her talents are her costumes. Her first run was done in a chicken-themed dress. Eventually, she worked in a Supergirl costume and Wonder Woman. That's when she realized what kind of impact she has.

"All these little girls just started wearing similar things and sending videos," she said.

Besides "American Ninja Warrior," you may have seen Graff (whether you realize it or not) in the first season of "Supergirl" as well as on "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." and "Hawaii Five-0" and in a number of movies. While a lot of the obstacles are different from things she sees in her day job, she said the most challenging thing is not getting a lot of time to figure out how to tackle them.

"You don't get to touch them. You don't get to try them," she said. "You have to get it right on the first time"

Leave it to stuntwoman Jessie Graff to show off her kickass moves on the red carpet, and in heels, no less. The “American Ninja Warrior” star, who was hailed for being the first woman to complete Stage One in the show’s national finals, showed off all her martial arts moves and even did a flawless backflip as she walked the carpet of the 68th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards last Sunday. She definitely had the most interesting poses on the red carpet.

The 32-year-old took a break from her usual sweats and workout gear to dress up for the event in a red House of CB chiffon and leather gown. She paired the fluid dress with gold embellished ankle-strap sandals from Carmen Steffens.
