Why is my Revlon brush not getting hot

A hairdryer is a very similar principle like a clothes dryer. If the heating element isn’t heating up, it’s because it’s lost continuity (aka broken) and will never heat up. It is also possible, it has a thermal cutoff that is stuck open. You will need to UNPLUG IT, open it, check the heating element to make sure it’s continuous.

Honestly, if this doesn’t interest you (unless this dryer has sentimental value or another value for you), I’d get another dryer. Similiar dryers below for you to check the complexity and figure out your next steps:

Why is my Revlon brush not getting hot

Any one else had an issue with the dryer burning out in a few months (8 for me) with light use?

Yes! My high setting stopped working after a month. I purchased on Black Friday 2021 and by Christmas it was broke. It had only been used 7 or 8 times. The low still works but it takes much longer. Very disappointed, it did a great job even my 6 year old granddaughter liked it, who hates hair dryers.

Yes!!! I love this dryer but after about 8 or 9 months the burning started. I use it for less than 5 to 10 minutes at a time and the handle gets so hot I can’t even hold it and it starts burning my hair. That should not be happening with a hair dryer that is less than a year old. Revlon needs to fix this before it causes some serious damage.

I purchased mine in Jan 2017 and it's still working just fine (as of Nov 2019). I've been very pleased with it's durability since I've had Revlon hair dryers becoming inoperable after 2-3 years of use. I use it everyday (for 15 minutes each time) but wait for my long, thick hair to air dry at least halfway. I use my regular blow dryer to dry my roots if they're still damp since this styler is not effective for this purpose. I then use the Revlon styler to finish my hair - while it's still slightly damp, I'll use it to smooth/blow out the lengths of my hair.

I was thinking of buying another one as a back up. Does any other company make one like this dryer that is reputable and not a cheap knock off? My hair gets straight and has volume for several days and I have natural curly wavy hair. This is better than round brush in one hand dryer in another for me! I hope Revlon/Helen if Troy make improvements. see less Oh wow! I bought mine in May 2019, and now after reading all the answers to this question, has me worried. I ordered mine December 25, 2020, and it came in soon after. Didn't use it everyday, only when I needed a quick dry for my hair. I noticed not too long ago that whenever I try to dry my hair, there's a really bad burning type smell. It's only been 7 months and this is the only hair dryer I've ever used in my life. I would love to buy another one but who's to say that that one will burn out too???

I have purchased a minimum of 8 of these blow dryers within the last few years. I have had issues with the cord, the bristles falling out and slightly burning me mid blow dry and have had them burn out mid blow dry. This just happened to me AGAIN a few days ago!! I’m thinking about doing some research on some other brands. I did fall in love with this blow dryer when I first bought it and so I guess that’s why I couldn’t admit that it wasn’t the best lol if anyone else has recommendations on other brands, I’d gladly take them :)

I have had mine for probably 6-8 months and mine just did the same thing! It popped and a spark shot while it stopped working. When I unplugged it the blow dryer smelled fried and my outlet had burn marks. DANGEROUS product!!!!!

Yes, mine is dying. It only works on the high setting and has a burning motor smell. Its too bad because this has been my clear favorite styling tool ever. I got it in December 2021 and it is now June, 2022, so 6 months.

Burned my hair then burned out. Smelled a hot burning smell. Amazon wants $10 charge to return it after 10 months!! Will offer a refund though. Very sad.

Why is my Revlon not getting hot?

If the heating element isn't heating up, it's because it's lost continuity (aka broken) and will never heat up. It is also possible, it has a thermal cutoff that is stuck open. You will need to UNPLUG IT, open it, check the heating element to make sure it's continuous.

Why is my hair dryer not blowing hot air?

The fan blows cool air from the back of the hair dryer to the front. The heating element warms the air as it passes through the front. It sounds like the heating element has gone out on your hair dryer since it's still turning on and blowing, it just isn't warming the air.

Why is my Revlon brush whistling?

The noise indicates that the blades are either loose or broken and the blades are hitting the vents. Disassemble the hairdryer and if the part is loose, tighten the blades. If it is broken, replace the impeller.

Why did my hair dryer stop working?

The electric cord may be faulty, the appliance may not heat, and the fan may not operate. That's about it. Hair dryers will overheat and the thermostat will turn it off if the vent becomes clogged with hair or dust. Periodically brush or vacuum the grille and filter screen.
