4 Things you'll need before removing the pedestal stand from your Samsung TV:

1. A flat workspace big enough to lay the TV down.
2. A soft protective cloth to cover the workspace.
3. A Phillips-head screwdriver preferably with a magnetic tip.
4. Someone to help you lift the TV.

What to do next:

- Cover the workspace area with the protective cloth, making sure that it is clear of anything that might scratch the TV.
- When picking up the TV grab the bottom and top of the frame, also known as the bezel.
- Be sure not to put pressure on the screen as this could damage the unit.
- Gently lay the TV screenside down on the cloth, then using the screwdriver loosen and remove all four screws.
- Slowly pull the stand out of the bottom of the TV.

I am about to set up my new 43" Q6.

I planned to insert the legs while I checked everything, and then intend to mount it on the wall. However, I have seen some issues raised about removing the legs once they are installed.

Can anyone give me some advice?

The legs are easily removed, they do not click into place when inserted and so can just be pulled out. If they feel stiff, just give it a few light wacks with ur palm, making sure to support the tv from the frame.
